Riot going back on their words for Championship Riven, WHAT GIVES?

Back when the skin came out , Championship Riven was advertised and considered a limited skin. If I recall correctly, not too long before that (or hell, even a little after that) Riot had stated that they would be returning old limited holiday skins as legacy skins.

Naturally, this caused an uproar and Riot was forced to respond with fancy borders to show you owned it originally, which does nothing to solve the fact that players were led to believe that those Holiday skins would never be returning, hence their limited status.

I believe it wasn't until this announcement that Riot clearly drew the line between Legacy and Limited, and even stated their old holiday skins would become legacy for new players to enjoy. At this time, they defined limited skins by one time purchasable (or code redeemable) skins like Human Ryze and Silver kayle. The skins would never again be sold in store. Championship Riven was then, and for the past few years, considered a limited skin.

As I said, Riot had clearly stated the fine line between the skin classifications of limited and legacy, and it all seemed pretty clear and semi fair. I say semi fair, because in the end Riot went back on their word with original holiday skins (which were originally released with a promise that they would never be released again, so buy them while you can basically) and have now done so with the highly coveted (at least for Riven mains who don't have it) Championship Riven skin. Their reasoning (which is pretty PR words for "lets make more money off new players", no offense Riot) has to do with selling to new players, and making her available so one can buy the bundle of 5 (and again, sell more skins) with little or no regard to their promises and statements of the past.

I ask now, how is it acceptable for Riot to go back on their words and statements of the past and give players who own the original skin (and may have only bought it at the time because it was advertised as Limited) a fancy crown and newish particles for her Ultimate Activation and call it moral.

Honestly, I am just utterly shocked by Riots new level of greed and disrespect for their statements, policies, and veteran players.

But I guess thats just a savvy business these days.

Technically Riot is holding to their word. The purchasable skin is not the same skin that is being updated; it's just really, really, REALLY similar. The classic skin has slightly different particles than the new version, and that technically means it's a separate skin despite sharing practically everything else.

Classic CR owners still get to have a skin no one else can ever have... it's just that Riot is making a brand new skin that looks, acts, and functions nearly identically to that classic skin. It's the kind of underhanded loophole abusing we've come to expect from lawyers and politicians.

I don't own the classic skin. I don't even own Riven. I just like to call out dick moves when I see them. Dick move Riot.
