Universe of League of Legends

The very first line in the Demacia section(its header, basically) was as follows "High Silvermere, a city in the rocky highlands of Demacia’s north-west" and it states that its in Demacia's borders..And then further states the capital of Demacia is Demacia city.

Firstly, how original , the capital is named after the Country? Continent? Province?

Secondly, what happened to its former designation of "City State", like Noxus, Zaun, and Piltover? Are they no longer considered those, and if so, why the hell not? The games factions weren't intended to be super powers, thats why they had champions, Heroes and Villains who would protect the interests of the homes or themselves.

How is a champion special now or their homeland special if its just another generic fantasy country..

tl;dr

why aren't they called City States anymore, what gives Lore guys?

Because Riot actually put time and effort into the lore instead of shilling out bad off the cuff lazy fluff like before. Also the term city state was bad description to alot of places. Ionia even in the old lore can't be consider an city state. Noxus ans Demacia Noxus got the well deserve upgrade.

You're second point make zero sense, how does not having city state somehow make the champion special. I'm not even going to bother why a group of overly powered wizard that make stupid war game is lazy story telling and world building.

Tl:DR

City state were remove from the lore because it was inaccurate description of the current lore.

Because having larger scope nations means you have far wider scope environments and people involved in them, more varied origins for the characters, and a great variance in the kind of perspectives and influences play a part in the narrative. It's also more appropriately sized for a world as opposed to what could effectively be considered a large island before.

The only true city states now are Piltover and Zaun, who are independent from other nations in Runeterra while still being cities.

Maybe because Piltover and Zaun are actually seperate from the Demacian and Noxian governing bodies?

You are very, very, very, very slow with the news. This thing was obvious a year ago. Specially with the notion that we have the EMPIRE of Noxus...how in the world would you have an Empire from just one city, it makes no sense. Same with EMPIRE of Shurima.

League lore, for better or worse, has gotten bigger in scope. The game, for the most part, no longer really focuses on a bunch of guys who are representatives of certain aspects of their faction. Now we have eternal creation gods, a psychopomp, a bartering demon that may be able to travel through time, and the like.

And the world has gotten bigger at the same time. Noxus isn't a city-state, it's an expansionist empire. Demacia is a kingdom, or something. Shurima is a past empire, but now still spans most of a continent, or something. I don't know.

Of the original city-states, I think Piltover and Zaun may still count, unless they were changed in that lore dump a couple days back. Technically, the people of Targon call themselves Tribes, but the amount of infrastructure needed to sustain a population living how the Rakkor and Solari are described definitely make them sound like, at minimum, two city-states. Unless they control multiple cities each, but that doesn't seem how the Solari are described.

Uhh, Bilgewater sounds like one as well. Just one that doesn't really make sense.

I think Piltover,Zaun and maybe Bilgewater and Bandle city would be still considered city states.

But the rest aren't city states anymore.
