At least with my current trend of only getting one level 3 upgrade per game.

I'm either only managing to get one per game (and BARELY getting a second upgrade) because you're so fed that the team just surrenders. Or another game I had where we all did so poorly I couldn't even afford one level 3 upgrade.

Actually, my first game of this mode, I got two level 3 upgrades, but of course, you have to WIN 2 BEFORE you can start earning progress for your krakens. Don't get me started on how stupid it is to have to win and not get progress towards part 2 yet.

I want to say that I enjoy this game mode, but after playing it, it's just too stressful to worry about 'can I manage a second level 3 upgrade before the game ends?' I basically feel forced to turtle and get as many dragons and enemy jungle creeps as possible, instead of just ending the game.

If it was easier to spend the Krakens (Why is the "black market" at the normal everyday 'legal' store?), it would be different, but you have to lose the use of your krakens at end of game (wasting your progress towards this HUGE goal) or abandon your teammates. I like the game mode, but this reward is a huge huge grind.
