I figured this would be interesting to see where we have the highest concentration of champions. I went with main city and/or most closely associated place rather than where a champion is directly born. I'll list some possible problems at the bottom for people who want to contend x or y is from somewhere else.

The lore rework classification is for champions who have no clear place in League lore due to the retcon at the present time. These guys need just some fleshing out.

Here are some explanations to some champs that may cause problems. Feel free to ask if I didn't cover someone.

Brand - He technically could go under free agent as he's the embodiment of fire but considering he comes from Olaf's homeland and almost directly counters Lissandra (elementally) I think he fits fine in the Fridgelord (Ironically so)

Cassiopeia - While her story mostly centers in Shurima with betraying Sivir, she's Katarina's sister and possible member of the Noxian court. I consider her a Noxian first, traitor bitch second.

Ezreal - Born in Piltover, explored Shurima, dating a girl from Demacia and a global explorer. Personally I think Ezreal should be in almost any story that centers around exploring. He's really a global presence.

Gnar Nidalee Rengar Zyra - These four exist in this "jungle" place that Riot's being rather coy with. Gnar didn't really have any connection/story to Bandle City despite being a yordle and the other three all live in this place so it's just a vague category atm.

Lucian - He goes where the shadows go. Technically born in Demacia but never staying there long.

Riven - The ideal of hers is Noxian so, while she's likely in Ionia or wandering the world, Noxus will forever be her goal and where I, and likely others, associate her to.

Ryze - Ryze likely needs a rework for lore too but, as a character, I don't think Riot will change his rogue/wandering mage persona.

Vayne - Contrary to Lucian, Vayne operates mostly in Demacia and is an aristocrat there....at least by day. Likely needs a lore update too but I think she works as a Demacian.

Zilean - Honestly unsure where to play him. Utistan? Zaun? Wanderer? He needs some clarification to where he is.

#Some findings:

  • Mt. Targon has the least number of champions. Get on that Riot!
  • Ionia has the most number of champion reps followed by the Freljord
  • Noxus and Demacia are actually tied for champ reps if you trust my list. Annie isn't in Noxus, my bad!
  • Every bandle city rep is a yordle. How shocking.
  • Of the "world wanderers", at least four are god-tier beings.

Honestly did this for no other reason than boredom. Feel free to discuss, nitpick and do whatever you'd like.

#Change Log

  • Annie removed from Noxus. She's from voodoo lands. (So likely a lore rework/fleshing out needed)
  • Tahm moved to World Wanderer. He goes where he pleases.

Hence why I don't think Ionia needs a lore update before Targon.

But obviously I'm biased as well as pointing out that Targon has barely anything.

just wondering, despite the piltover customs skin isnt blitzcrank in and work with zaun? viktor created him and i havent read anything about him going to piltover or something. heck he is something of a celebrity in zaun

Zilean doesn't really have a home anymore according to his lore, nor can he keep his thoughts together long enough to remember anything about it. Being summoned to SR was SUPPOSED TO temporarily get his thoughts together, but now that there is no Institute of war, he's kind of s.o.l. till Riot updates him. It does say he's from this wasteland called Urtistan where there used to be a great city, but I think he's just more or less a wanderer till he gets that update.

Alistar could be part of Demacia since he's friends with Xin Zhao.

Fiddlesticks could originate from the Voodoo Lands, but is now a World Wanderer.

Jax and Nocturne could be from Ionia. I can imagine Jax as an ancient Ionian vagabond that helps the unfortunate. Nocturne could be like Aku, a formless monstrosity and defiler of dreams who was sealed away by Ionian monks until he was later freed.

Shaco could be from Noxus who went insane from getting lost in the Glades, using the fae's magic for his dark and twisted sense of humor.

Taric could easily be a Targonian thanks to Poppy's joke, guessing that was a small teaser for his rework.

Zilean could be an ancient being who learned to master time and later reside in Piltover.

Malphite could be a World Wanderer. A champion that massive could reside in Shurima or Voodoo Lands.

Kayle and Morgana are easy: Demacia and Noxus, although that might change.

P.S. Annie no longer resides with Noxus, she's at the Voodoo Lands now.

The list is inconsistent as to criteria. You can't pin Janna down has a Zaun member(She's Zaun born, but despises the city and supports Piltover) and then pin Ezreal(Piltovian by birth) as a world explorer.

For example.. Tahm isn't Bilgerwater at all. He's more than clearly a "world explorer"

Isn't Tahm Kench technically a World Wanderer/Free Agent? He doesn't reside in Bilgewater - he even says "ain't no place I've never been" or something along those lines

Zilean is considered to be from Piltover, although an immigrant to the place. He chose that, likely because it aligns with his values.

There are actually 2 jungles. The first one is Kumungu where Zyra and Nidalee are from,while the other is Pague Junge where MonkeyKing is from and where Rammus got his power from.

Rengar 's and Gnar 's residences/afflictions are currently unknown.

Annie was born the Voodoo Lands where she currently is.

Nami isn't currently afflicted with any faction/fiction besides Guardian's Sea ,where she's from.

Hey nice list man. One thing I might is that you should probably sperate the "world wanders" and the spirits. Bard, Tahm Kench, Kindred Aatrox dont really wander the world, they just apear when they need to, but we don't really know how they work.

The Zil Pill lives in a timewarped tower in 'Urtistan'. It's halfway between Demacia and Shurima.

Raka is a wanderer who helps people as I believe she is not stationed anywhere and Zilean is stuck in the time stream for the most part.

EDIT: Also there is nothing other than a skin to refer to the idea Blitz is in Piltover rather than anywhere else after leaving Zaun , but that being said you put Riven in Noxus even after she started roaming so why not Blitz too? Also Rammus is from the jungles not Shurima.

We'll know Taric's new lore fairly soon, so he'll finally be placed. I wonder where he will be aligned. Probably Demacia?

Well there will be more lore updates, which i honestly like. But I think some champions will be a mystery forever (like Taric ).

I mean, yeah he is getting reworked (and im a Taric and Gangplank main so yeah lol). But i mean we will possibly never know where he came from. It seems to be somewhere in Runeterra (seeing as he says things like "magic has ruined this land" which means he must know Runeterra in some form. Or he just don't likes the abuse of magic itself). Whats interesting is that he is listed as a demacian, and also is friends with Sona (and Skarner obviously because of gems). The only question i have is: Where is he right now? Does he wander from land to land after he got taken away from his home or did he stay in Demacia to have atleast somewhere to go? But it would be cool to find out more about his home to. In his splashart he seems to be in some sort of cave that has a waterfall inside it. Does he live deep in the underground of Runeterra and just thinks it's other world/land, or is he really like an "alien" outcast?

And Malphite is kinda like that too. His world is a mystery that has never been discovered yet. He has some connections to other champions (he's friends with other "structure" creatures like Skarner and Maokai ). But well, time shows what we will know more about our champions in lore form.

I guess you could place Evelynn under lore rework needed but Shadow Isles is probably correct either way. Also wasn't Morgana connected to Noxus somehow? Or was that just some alternate reality fanfic? She still needs lore rework though so I'd keep her there.

Annie isn't noxus. Her parents once lived there, but she was born and raised in the Voodoo lands, with her allegiance to the Grey Order.

Taric will likely be Targon, based on one of Poppy's quotes.
