Sejuani: If she's not pumping iron like Morde, I'll be surprised. Vi: She ought to be swole. Honestly it would work out in terms of her character dynamics with Cait and Jinx. She's the big strong tomboy and they are the smaller, long range gunslingers.
Leona: I hated how flimsy she looks in New Dawn. She grew up in Mt. Targon, so it would make sense that she would be pretty muscular. May or may not be as ripped as Pantheon. Shyvana: Unless dragon genes make you stronger than you look, Shyv should be huge compared to the human females.

Essentially, yes. This is where Riot's problematic 'one body for every woman' design basis kinda apart. Most notably missing from the list would also be Riven, who used to be a heavy armor/weapon Noxian foot soldier. I'm ponderous if Quinn might also fall under this area, but archers have much different considerations.

If lack of "realism" in champions is a problem, Illaoi is part of the problem as well, in addition to the male cast. She's even more unrealistic than the champs mentioned. Even modern olympic level professional weight lifters don't look like her. Much less the psuedo Middle-Ages ones.

Oh, definitely. The majority of Champions are peerless in their figures, especially in the moustache area Braum .

But that is why it is especially senseless to complain about one of them or to hold up another as an example.

I would add that it is not lack of realism, but lack of credibility, which is far more impactful for us as an audience.

If we can buy into what is being shown, it may not matter to us that doesn't match exactly with our world.

For example, Garen's hands are way bigger than his head, which is completely unrealistic, but they are fitting for the character (a hulking warrior carrying an oversized sword).

The issue with Sejuani, Leona, Vi, and the like, is that their bodies don't fit their theme.

Can't upvote this enough. In fact I was about to write this myself. Realism, as per usual, is silly to expect in a high fantasy setting, where sword wielding fighters can summon magical swords from the sky.

Credibility is the key word. For instance, it was even said in the opening post: "Unless dragon genes make you stronger than you look..." Dragons are creatures that don't exist, and since Shyv's humanoid form is clearly an act of shapeshifting, we can easily buy into her being stronger than her humanoid form would suggest.

But the others are (largely) human and from everything we can observe, the body shapes of humans in LoL reflect closely what we know of real human bodies, so the lack of any other explanation makes their massive strength look strange, when compared to their stature.

Another example would be the grrl-power webcomic. There, superpowered women all have rather ahem "outstanding" breasts, despite some of them being visibly muscular. The comic addresses that by saying that yes, that this strikes them as odd and that according to their observations, EVERY super (male or female) looks almost perfectly ideal, but since they don't know where those superpowers come from, they just guess it is an accompanying trait.

Vi and Leona I can see having defined muscular structure (like most female personal trainers) and I'm fine with it.

I wish Sejuani was much bigger than she actually is. Like Braum and Illoai combined.

It's already been established that Vi is a mechanic not a powerlifter. She built a hextech power rig, remember?

Irelia: Tank/Fighter who specializes in getting up close and personal to stab you with magic blades. Riven: Much like Irelia, instead uses a big ass sword, she should be pretty ripped due to training anyway. Sivir: The weapon she uses looks pretty big and heavy but has little musculature, her ult is all about running faster.

irelia uses her will to move her blades though, so she doesnt really need to be buff

Maybe not buff, but she would definitely be super fit and actually have muscle. She would of had military/martial training before being able to use blades through her will.
