Shurima's updated lores vs the Ascension events a few years back

Is the Ascension event still canon? I thought it happened after the great retcon, and so I assumed it had to still be canon today.

BUT... as far as I remember, Nasus and Renekton were already legends from an ancient past in Azir's time, according to the Ascension movies. Meanwhile, the few lines available on PBE seem to indicate that they were still present and active in the Empire, with pretty high-ranking functions, when Azir fell.

Did I miss something or what?

No parts of the lore conflict. Nasus and Renekton might have been ancient Ascended but that doesn't mean they just disappeared.

if i remember right, Nasus and Renek were acended from way before, and Azir was supposedly planning on having the acension ritual for himself (when Azir and Xerath ewre both human and they were 'friends' and Renek was not twisted)

Xerath gave Azir some 'tips' or 'info' on thel hi ritual, then when they were going to have it, he pushes Azir aside and takes the changed ritual for himself and becomes the arcane energy being he now is. Nasus and Renek then help fight him off and they manage to seal him with Renek staying beind in the tomb with him and after several idk-how-many years, when I believe Cassiopea and Sivir open the tomb as was shown in the Azir release, Xerath had driven him mad somehow and he is now twisted. I don't remember if Azir had died in direct relation to Xerath being ascended or something else killed him though.
