Darkin lore theory

If we look at Aatrox, he's a demonic looking being with a "Living Sword" that thirsts for blood and can heavily influence others, increasing bloodlust or inflicting them with fear and doubt. He is also able to "corrupt" people as seen with Tryndamere (shown more in his Demonblade skin) and has something to do with Jax (he can be seen in the background of Jax's splash)

The particularly interesting thing to me is the Living Sword bit and the ability to corrupt. Perhaps Darkin are not what they seem to be.

What if the Darkin themselves are weapons? Aatrox Aatrox- the Darkin Blade there are a few hints towards this, in Aatrox's case: -His sword needs blood, when it drinks blood his powers increase -His large blade is seemingly weightless and "hypnotic" -Aatrox has been around for a VERY long time. -His body and blade move in unison as if one being" - quote from lore

I believe the SWORD that Aatrox uses is Aatrox himself, the body does not matter. The blade could hypnotize unsuspecting people and possess them when they grab it, transforming their bodies to look like Aatrox does now, maybe to establish an appearance.

It is said that there are 5 total Darkin remaining, with only 3 known to history, yet only Aatrox is ever mentioned. Perhaps there are Darkin hidden in the League's ranks this very second.

If my living weapon theory is true lets look for other that fit the bill, mainly being a powerful item with a corrupting nature that possesses the host. I can only think of two others. Brand and Varus.

Brand Brand, the Burning Vengeance. He is presumably a spirit or demon that possessed the body of a man named Kegan, transforming him into the Brand we know today. Brand could EASILY be considered a living weapon (hi Aatrox) as he conjures fire and flame and his very body is molten. lets compare brand and Aatrox. -both desire destruction and violence -both are technically two beings in one -both have been alive for an extremely long time with a very mysterious backstory -if my possession/corruption theory for Aatrox is correct, both corrupt normal people to obtain new bodies (Kegan was hypnotized by the flames as Aatrox's sword is said to be hypnotic as well)

"This body is but one of many" - Brand.

Varus Varus, the Arrow of Retribution. Varus was a normal archer when his village came under attack from noxian soldiers. His village was losing terribly while he was guarding a Corruption (there it is again) and performing his duty as a guardian. His village and family were slaughtered and the noxians were heading his was, and in order to defend the corruption he took it within himself. His body undertook a transformation, corrupting his arms and legs and feeling "malevolent energy" bond to him and becoming filled with hatred. The corruption he absorbed could have been the energy or spirit of a Darkin, similar how Brand was just a flame when Kegan found him. now lets compare to Brand and Aatrox. -all desire destruction and violence (aimed towards the noxians for Varus) -if my corruption and living weapon theories are correct, they have all been corrupted and changed in some way

It's true varus had less to go on but he has the shortest lore of the three

I find it really interesting that I could find 3 to fit this living weapon bill and theres 2 more "unknown" to HISTORY, perhaps meaning there are 2 Darkin in the making, but who? Tryndamere and Jax.

Tryndamere Tryndamere is already regarded as Aatrox's "greatest creation", he already desires the destruction of Aatrox, and, in his Demonblade skin, we can see He's fused with his weapon, similar how to the others I've mentioned are fused to something and is the only person known to have survived a direct battle with Aatrox (lore wise)

Jax Jax is already the perfect killing machine, able to best the mightiest foes with nothing but a lamppost, and with the appearance of Aatrox in the background of Jax's splash art could show that Aatrox is watching Jax, perhaps even training him, and waiting or perhaps thinking of a way to turn him into a Darkin.

Another little fun fact, all of these people have glowing eyes, except maybe Jax because we cant see his face (Tryndamere does in ult with Demonblade skin as seen in the video Riot made)

And there it is, the three current Darkin and the 2 not yet known to history.

What do you think, could the Darkin really be weapons or am I just making stuff up?

Sorry to disappoint you, but this theory isn't new.

Ever since I read Aatrox's lore, I've been really curious in the Darkin...and what you say actually makes sense and sounds plausible. Good job, mate! [slayer-pantheon-thumbs]

I hope it's true and I also hope that we get some juicy Darkin related lore in the near future :D

....Why did you recreate this thread?

Anyway to continue where we left off:

Brand On brand I believe he is a darkin, at least in my theory, due to him being able to possess and fully control humand and bestow IMMENSE power to the host. If humans can be casters and warriors, why not the darkin? There could be more magical-based darkin, as brand was once just a flame, and more physical weapon based darkin like Aatrox.

The problem is that appearantly Pantheon Maokai and likely TahmKench all have the ability to completely posess and control a living being(sure its a plant in maos case, but humans in the cases of pantheon and tahm kench),while also having full access to their powers. By that logic any of them could be a darkin even though we know they aren't ones.

Varus With Varus i see it like brand, a more magical weapon or perhaps the original weapon was destroyed somehow leaving behind only the corruption, with the darkin trying to become Varus' bow, why else would his weapon undergo a transformation as Varus did, if the corruption entered Varus only as the lore states what purpose would there be for his weapon to also undergo the transformation unless a darkin is trying to inhabit his weapon?

Maybe because it gives the weapon special abilities? It likely can't give varus the ability to shoot arrows out of his body, instead it corrupts the weapon as well. If the corruption was a more magical darkin, then I'd ask why Varus doesn't have so many magical abilities?

Tryndamere There was a video a while back explaining the hidden lore-related skins, how spelltheif Lux was based on her ability to copy spells and how Demonblade Tryndamere was Tryndamere if Aatrox gave him more darkin power

The video however doesn't base this on anything. The skin was released waaay before aatrox and only came with a horror-movie like promotion video and that is pretty much all that is known about the skin.
