King from the Tekken series would’ve been a better choice for character design with Sett

King II

Before I begin, as someone who is gay, yes I find him quite attractive, but that’s not the main point.

I think the idea of Ionian underground pit brawler is a nice idea, since we don’t have an Ionian juggernaut (at least I can’t think of any at the top of my head) and we can delve deeper to more criminal activities in Ionia other than Zed’s shadow cult.

However his design is... kinda lacking. While at first I was all “holy shit he’s hot”, but now looking at him, he could’ve been a bit better with showing his vastayan nature. I couldn’t even tell what creature he’s based on cause how, human like he looks. Rakan and Xayah have wings that are shaped like a cape and long ears. I didn’t even realised he had animal ears till I tried him on the pbe. The cape feels.. weird. He doesn’t really... need it cause taking it off, he would’ve still made him normal.

King is an amazing inspiration for animal wrestlers. Though he doesn’t have a jaguar as his actual head, the idea of a wrestler with an animal head fits very well with the vastaya. Maybe they think the head is a mask so he joins the pit and gain money and attraction to it.

But instead we get the attractive wrestler. I understand they tried to connect noxus with the underground pit and all, but I think there was a better way to create a vastayan like juggernaut tbh. His design is like very similar to Kai’Sa.

They both had lots of potential for monster designs, but instead went for the traditional attractive person look instead.

This is my take. I’m still gonna main him cause his abilities are fun but design wise kinda lacking. But hey maybe they actually had King as inspiration for him but chose for another direction instead who knows.

A key point of his character is that his Dad is a Noxian and his mother is Vastayan, a race already well known for looking human-like (In some clans, it's variable). Making him more monster-like ignores that fact. The fact of the matter is that Sett being more human-like is an intended part of the character's contribution to the world around him. He's our first half-breed, a mix of Vastayan and Human. Making him more monster-like doesn't make sense, outside of those who just want more monster-type characters, because he's meant to be more human-like.

See that's a thing I was thinking, he could really use a mask, or like if his design had been more animalistic people thinking his head was a mask (what could have been). Cuz like he's a pit fighter, if everyone knows his face how is he to prevent his loved ones (his mother) from being hurt by salty opponents who lost to him going after what he loves most.

Also I think it's make some sense thematically, giving him more Vastaya vibes without actually having to BE Vastaya (though honestly before we knew what he was going to look like I thought he might use a mask to HIDE his more animalistic features, but alas).

They could even make the mask toggleable like Kai'sas'.

I'm honestly super diappointed they went with generic pretty man for his look, like yeah he's hot, but like. He could've been more like Rengar, or even a cross between Rengar and other Vastaya. Animal head, more human body. Something.

Sorry but I think riot turned away from the furry trope for sett on purpose. If you need to satisfy your furry needs I bet you can find a game for that on steam 🤔
