What's funny out of all the people who were exiled from Demacia, I doubt anyone actually went to climb Mt Targon for redemption besides this dude named Taric lol who actually believed something was up there. Regular people would see an exile to mt targon as a death sentence and just bounce and never come back, start over their life somewhere else.
I think this was even said by Jaredan that most people who were punished to Mt.Targon just went off to some other place and started a new life outside of demacia.
Taric however genuinly wanted to atone for what he has done. It's not that he thought there was anything special atop of the mountain,but that he willingly accepted the punishment for his failure.
Everyone thought this guy was a joke..
