The lifeforce in the lantern, is it?

TenshouSNK··6 votes·1,147 views

Hey guys, I had one question regarding the souls of whom Thresh has trapped inside his lantern for all of eternity. Yes this includes are beloved Senna aka Lucian's wife. Are they forced to provide their life force (assuming that the green bubble thingy that the lantern gives to teammates is their life force) to thresh's teammates? Are they forced to protect Thresh's teammates? For example, teammates such as top laner, the adc etc. Is that something against their will? And from a hypothetical point of perspective, how would the champion engulfed in the green bubble feel like, I mean how does that stuff feel like when it's around you, keeping in mind it does protect the person from damage but still...Feels weird I guess?

I'd assume the logic behind the ability is the souls provide the shield as stated. That's at least my headcanon.

Very interesting approach. So It would be safe to assume that these souls are "forced" to provide that shield no?

Of course... it could even be argued the souls are under Stockholm syndrome.

So what about Senna and stuff?

what about? It might not be the case all thresh's souls are entirely willing.

I mean in Senna's case, probably does not like doing that right? Willing providing the shield.

Well keep in mind, while it is thresh wanting them to shield another, they are helping someone else besides thresh, so it might ease the unwillingness slightly

true but it's feel it is against their will lol

depends on the recipient I suppose. i'd assume senna would be more than willing to shield Lucian were it the case. But she might not care for someone like a Morde or Hecarim

I am really curious to know, who the other souls are? Would be interesting that if there are souls from thousands and thousands of years ago, like maybe souls of ancient shurimans, or ancient zaunites, their very presence (souls) could be infact very valuable to the world. After all, while they are stuck and damned for eternity his Thresh's lantern, they still consist of knowledge and history from a period of time where books may have not recorded things properly. You get where I am going here right? These souls, are treasure. They have knowledge of the past.

we really dont know... if game knowledge is to go by it has to be souls he collected himself, which means since he is tied to the black mist, only souls from places the black mist has been such as bildgewater, blessed isles (now shadow isles), and whatever poor sailors travelled into it, would be in the lantern.

Interesting, I was not aware that his journey's took him to bilgewater. Does his souls consist of only humans or souls of other humanoids? And I am guessing the souls are predominantly male? I know we have different races in this game besides humans, for example, elve looking like janna people, demonic entities? yordles? I can't think of any other humanoids but please free to add more to the list if I have lost some. I can only recall those 3.

considering if i remember correctly nunu drops 2 souls (willump's and nunu's) probably not just humans...

and yes, in Shadow and Fortune Lucian had a showdown with Thresh in Bilgewater during the Harrowing.

Very interesting. However, as scholarly as you are sir on this topic, I have to correct you on one little thingy. Nunu is in fact a human child.

I know, what you are saying but I wanted to know what other types of humanoid souls could been in there besides humans?

MavenSong4 votes

when was him being a child come into play?

I was in the assumption you forgot that Nunu was human. If I have misread, I humbly provide you with my sincere apologies.

Okay thanks.

So are we talking like anything with souls? Yordles? Void creatures? Undead entities? What are your ideas on what other non-human souls could be in there?

Arakadia1 votes

I thought the Void creatures were kinda like one being. Once they died they returned to the Void to reform and mishmash

Yordles do, undead do, and void creatures do (according to game logic)

as far as we can tell almost every sentient creature has a soul.

I see. So do you think it's only souls of humans in there or other things too? Is there anything in there that is very very very old?

Anything that the black mist has come in contact with since the Ruination (i think that's the event's name, cant remember) and Thresh's transformation would be fair game... could be squirrels in there for all we know

Is there any way to find out what exactly is present in there?

Well, that's just great. I guess I am out of luck...Maybe I won't get to interview those souls lol. There are a lot of unanswered questions that I need to find answers too, but for now, I am satisfied. For now.

Thank you for taking part in my discussion, I hope we bump into each other again one day. You have educated me to the best of your knowledge and I am grateful. Thank you very much for your time sir.

You have a great night. Take care.

Safe Travels.
