Rek'sai Q&A [Completed]: Narrative's absence noticed, we miss you and want you around.

**Edit: ** Seems like jaredan and sixtwo saw this, thanks for popping into the Q&A and answering some questions <3

Reading through the Rek'sai Q&A, I noticed the missing presence of the narrative team. I realize we have some tension between the community and narrative, but we love having you around to shoot the shit about the newest champions. I would love to still have you pop in even if for a mindless creature like Rek'sai , there's still quite a lot to talk about :)

Just to make it easier on you I've put together a list of some of the questions the community had asked. I realize a few of these questions are very invasive,I understand if you don't want to answer those but I'd love for you to answer and discuss with us about some of the less invasive questions.

It's been mentioned that Rek'sai is the queen of a special species of Voidspawn. Does this mean that our other Voidspawned friends are apart of their own special species?

With Rek'Sai being a monstrous creature of Shurima, does she perhaps know of any other monstrous beings such as Skarner who share the land with her? Do those same beings know her, and what affect has she had on their lives?

Rek'Sai is the largest and strongest of the Xer'Sai, a species of Voidborn. What other kinds of Voidborn species exist? Are there the Xer'Gath, Xer'Maw, Xer'Zix and Xer'Koz, the species of our current roster of Voidborn, or something similar?

How long has Rek'Sai inhabited Shurima? More specifically, do records of her predate the reign of Azir or is she a bit more modern than that?

Is the Xer'Sai race an insect swarm type? Such as ants? If so is it a possibility for a broodmother skin?

From the preparedness of the travelers from her release video, I'd guess her existence is known at least to the locals - does she have a widely-known reputation like that of Kalista?

Last question; does Rek'sai's lifestyle confirm the the void is at least somewhat a physical place, with a substance that would be burrowable present?

I'm guessing that they're probably just finishing some things up, and weren't quite ready to talk about her story.

She's a new character, and doesn't seem poised to expressly or implicitly retcon anything, so it's not like we have any pressing need for a pre-release discussion. That said, it'd certainly be a nice surprise if Narrative came by to talk with us beforehand, perhaps even with an eye to making a few last-minute tweaks to her lore based on the discussion.

But really, that'd just be frosting on the cupcake. Looking forward to reading her lore. …and pausing a moment to hope that I didn't just jinx anything. Come on, how could Rek'Sai retcon anything?

That's impossible, right?

Right?

guys?

Yeah I was rather upset that there was nobody there to answer any lore questions. This Q&A was 90% game-play stuff I already knew, most of it repeated stuff.

Also when Utora said "If I were Cho'Gath I would most likely be terrified of running into her." I did a double take, there is just so much wrong with that statement.

Three of those are mine! Lore forum senpais are noticing me!

Well for my own questions I figured that they may not get answered specifically because they delve in to story elements that Riot might not wanna discuss because:

  1. Might get addressed in her full character piece
  2. Are important to Void lore that they don't want to reveal until later

Was actually surprised that there were no narrative folks answering questions, kinda left me bummed. item 3070

Hell I dunno. I ain't gonna get to worked up over it though, just gonna wait for that character piece. That in turn likely won't give much insight in to the questions we have, specifically relating to the Void and such, as it'll probably be about her interactions with Shurimans and how they view her, potentially showcasing some of her intelligence and personality.

EDIT: That last statement about her character piece isn't me complaining about what it will entail; if it's as I said, then i feel like it'll be a great read! I'm just stating this for the sake of those people who got annoyed/disappointed after seeing Kalista's character piece have no details to her origins. The new lores, being character pieces, are unlikely to give us insight in to those kinds of details! Those are for later developments. I'm wondering about the form we're gonna see Rek'Sai's piece in and what it'll be centered around, but I'm still looking forward to it.

EDIT AGAIN: Sixtwo responded to a couple of lore questions, kinda late but hey, works out. Sixtwo ain't on narrative, he's a producer and posts just about everything news related for the League site:

"We changed everyone's stories so that we can progress them and give them more depth."

Doesn't progress them or give them more depth.

Come on, how could Rek'Sai retcon anything? That's impossible, right?

From Koggy's Lore

There amongst the haunting ruins of Icathia, Kog'Maw manifested in Valoran with unsettling curiosity.

Manifested, implying that Koggy lacked physical form before he begin existing in Valoran. If that's what is actually going on when a Void creature manifests in a physical universe, then the talk of species and borrowable terrain and fixed form from the Q&A would be retconning the vague hints we had about how the Void worked in Cho and Koggy's lore.

Well...maybe they figured it would be pretty much impossible to tell an interessting story about a non-sentinent beast (apart from the usual man fights beast thing).

Was hoping for a Q&A. Maybe a red will pop in this thread and answer a few of the OP's questions.
