The problem with Vlad's VO isn't that it's 100% blood puns

It's that it says absolutely nothing about his personality and concept. The writing cute and funny but absolutely flat. At most you can discern Vladimir is someone who would rather joke around than talk about himself, which is hardly what a VO should do.

It's a shame, really. The actor sounds great, some of the laughs are awesome.

I'd actually argue the contrary. Vlad's puns tell us quite a bit about his character. He's clever, quick-witted, and a little bit playful, indicating that maybe he's not taking all of this quite so seriously. It also speaks to the depths of his obsession, like in his Judgement, it's not that he's "just" a blood mage, he's completely obsessed with it, hemomancy is like a compulsion to him. The way he dresses and speaks revolve around it, and he will not shut up about blood. Being more willing to joke around than talk about himself is also interesting, if you think about it. Is Vlad ashamed to admit some of the things he's done? The Judgement implies a little guilt about his first two kills, and an inability to stop.

Of course, that could all be me reading too deeply into it, and I'd like to see his bank of lines expanded once the Noxus Update rolls around. I agree with you in that I'd really love for them to keep his current VA.

They need to establish what that personality is first. Do they want more of the noble or more of the blood mage? Do they want him to be more political or more apolitical? Do they want more calculated or more spontaneous? How serious do they want Vladimir? You can go from one extreme to the other or maybe in the middle with his current gameplay. He doesn't need a vgu though. Just vu and lore update. His gameplay is solid in my opinion, he is a blood mage and he conveys that well in his gameplay.

I love the blood puns so much. If they ever redo his VO lines, they better keep them dammit.

We already have the Vlad voiceover we deserve. Its called Blood Lord. Pretty much why I still use Blood Lord Vlad even though I like how soulstealer looks better.

I mean, considering how old his VO is, this should be less an argument of what's wrong with the VO and more an argument for how he should be getting some kind of update soon.

I've always imagined that he has the personality of a Lestat de Lioncourt type figure.

I wonder if Vlad is anywhere on the VGU list? Seems like he could be a much cooler character with updated visuals/VO and maybe some new abilities.

just wish they'd do more VUs, thus giving vlad a VU, new VO, lore update. i feel like he has the potential to be one of the absolute coolest champs in the game if they put some work into him. of course there are champs that need visual AND gameplay updates desperately, so I guess vlad is sadly really low priority.

An overuse of puns can completely ruin a character(see any "Smite" god for reference). When character creators use puns, it shows a lack of creativity.

The fact that Vladimir will make and immensely lame pun while painfully tearing every drop of moisture from your capillaries is what cements him as one of league's most evil, insane characters, in my opinion. There's a lot of room for improvement in his VO, but I think the puns are an important part of his personality. Without them he would just be a generic evil vampire hemomancer. I concede that his new VO (it will happen eventually) shouldn't be 100% puns. Maybe only 50%.

i want vlad to be murderously whimsical and to at least hint more about himself if he ever gets a VU

the blood lord vlad laughs are good id say their the best in the game normal vlad tho i say is meh

Yautja wannabe7/4/2017, 2:52:35 AM1 votes

Personally, I think it all boils down to personal perspective. Vlad's lines can come across as outdated, or they can hint to just how much of a monster he really is. Perhaps draining the blood from his victims is so normal to him that he just doesn't care anymore, which is why he has such a nonchalant personality. A couple great examples of this are Bayonetta and Dante from the DMC series. Both of them do extremely impressive (and quite frankly dark) things, but they're so used to it that they don't really seem to care. With that said, they're both too busy cracking jokes, puns, and taunts to actually talk about themselves. Same thing with our favorite hemomancer.

id actually really like for vlad to get more puns in his VO, aside from his gameplay its one of the top reasons i love playing vlad

starelementpoke7/3/2017, 1:44:00 PM1 votes

I think you mean the best part of it.

Project omen7/3/2017, 3:10:20 PM1 votes

Well if you read Vladimir's League Judgement, you'll see that he doesn't like talking about his true personality. He is a murderous psychopath and he is ashamed to admit it. Which is probably why a lot of his in game quotes are jokes and puns.

Evewynn7/3/2017, 6:59:34 PM1 votes

Was hoping for a pun.

Disappointed.

ModAcademy Kayn7/3/2017, 7:56:50 PM1 votes

It's that it ISN'T 100% blood puns.
