Why isn't anyone mentioning the fucking boob plates? Is no one else pissed off by these? No one will address this? Alright then. I'll reveal my nerdiness and rant a bit:

You fight plated people with percussion weapons. And you do so because plate is almost entirely immune against stabs and cuts. It works because percussion weapons transfer their kinetic energy to whatever it is the plate is covering. Plates are made round because swords, spears and even percussion weapons like hammers and maces are supposed to glide off them.

If you make a fucking boob formed plate, the weapon - whatever it is, will not glide off the plate, but stop, and transfer all of that juicy kinetic energy right into the rib cage supporting it.

The wearer will be human marmelade. M-A-R-M-E-L-A-D-E.

God I hate those things.

Those are simple facts. Even though it's a fantasy game - it's still rooted in reality. Hells, some of the reasons why the Awaken cinematic doesn't look realistic are listed up there in the article - for example, Irelia's hair would constantly be in her face. It isn't just the animations. In-game the graphics are basically old school, so Riot can get away with it, but in such a realistic, high quality 3D animation at least some of those ignored details crop up and stick out. Riven is the only realistic female character in the cinematic - she's muscular, but dirty and covered in sweat, with short hair that doesn't get in the way and basically flat chested. And has nothing to do with sexualization, SJW agendas, etc. It's just how women "work" in general.

This is actually really wrong and historically bullshit. Roman armor had realistic pecs and abs, medieval armor had an extremely narrow waist that would direct glancing blows to your midsecion, and there are dozens of other examples of historic armor that counter every argument people have against "boob plate".
Armor was hardened steel with a substantial gap between the wearer and the actual metal plate, so energy wouldn't be transferred directly to the wearer, and it was designed to accentuate the ideal body type of the era. Men had giant cod pieces for Christ's sake. If you attacked someone wearing plate armor, you would never try to hit the plate. You would go for the gaps in the armor, the bits of basically exposed flesh not covered in hardened steel.

People who argue against the idea of boob plate should probably actually look at what real armor looked like. The only reason historical examples of boob plate don't really exist is women didn't wear armor. They weren't soldiers back when armor was made, so there would be no reason to make armor for them.

And when I get a moment I will cannibalize my own comments to respond to the people on this thread who clearly don’t know what they’re talking about and/or only watched the Shadiversity video.

But one thing I must note. In what insane world are the designs in LoL close to realistic? All the armor in this game is shit. Some is just more shit than others.

I'll never understand why people can't accept that this is a fantasy game and that some things are going to happen in it that don't happen in real life.

What about Yordles huh? "That's not how hamsters work in real life!" Undead people? "Its so disrespectful to the dead to reanimate them, why are they in the game?" How about whatever you would call Urgot? "Humans can't survive with six shotgun knees!"

Hell, what about men? "Why would Rakan be diving into battle WITH NO ARMOR?!? How could Garen carry that huge sword one-handed? Totally unrealistic GG Riot"

Its a video game. Unless the function is fundamental to gameplay, developers will choose form over function in their designs 9 times out of 10. And that's fine. Because its not real. Its for fun.

Ban the female silhouette because it's sexist and not based on realism.

Most females are overweight and look like trolls, so this is not based in reality and needs to be changed.

Why is it a problem?`Because you decide it is? Fantasy needs to be FANTASTIC. Realism is complementary to a good fantasy, but fantasy absolutely needs to deviate from reality.
