Probably unpopular opinion regarding Viktor in the new stories...
...I feel it's got a lot more potential.
Let's look at some good things it does: -Viktor's excommunication and being stripped from his honors is no longer the work of some Professor, stealing the work from his students but rather his only FRIEND betraying him. It gives Viktor's story a lot more depth as hie betrayal might have hurt much more than what Piddley did in the old lore. His friend, the person he worked very closely with and the only one who could deal with his persona was the one who lead to his downfall.
-It gives Viktor a more human angle. He was betrayed by his only friend, his motives and goal falling in line with Jayce's own, their execution being the only thing that differs. Viktor still wants to help humanity rid itself from disease, war and conflict, yet the means to an end are still mostly frowned upon.
-We got a glimpse into his inner workings, which I hope can be expanded upon. I want to feel his EMOTIONS, I want to know what went through that head of his when everyone he cared for betrayed him and refused to help him out on his lowest point. Hell, he even went to Jayce AFTER he betrayed him, even offering him a place in his Glorious Evolution, wanting him as a partner, a friend.
-Jayce, as much as he's a douchebag, can be Viktor's Moral Compass, he's what Viktor needed, someone to guide him on the right path, yet Jayce did not try helping his friend out when he needed it most but reported him to his superiors. He should have been there for him when it was getting too much for him.
What it does wrong, well, is something that can just be brushed under the rug but raise some concerns.
-Viktor disregarding free will is a big deal, it should not be used further and only be seen as something he'd do when he deems it necessary, not something he actively works to get rid off.
-Killing Jayce: Viktor needs forgiveness in his character arc, let him grow out from this petty feud and make amends.
-Weekly raids on Jayce's lab. Viktor, buddy, if you really want Jayce's attention just send him some nice letter every once in a while.
But yeah, I feel Viktor can be great, IF, and only IF Riot takes him in the right direction with this.
