I went over this in another thread. Gragas' belly is an entity of such great mass / density that it warps Space-time, creating a void out of which not even light can escape.

It would only make sense that he is stronger than a guy who just makes stars or some crap.

I seriously hope future champs don't have this lore breaking "god like power and size" only to wind up just smaller than the turrets with maybe a fraction of their described power. Without a good reason, even something like "powerful summoners trapped him in a smaller body, with reduced his power in the process", this crap just hurts my sense of order. On the plus side, we now know who the strongest champ (lore wise) is.

Yep, it really breaks the immersion. Xerath for me was already a bit of a stretch considering he's supposed to have near unlimited power, I feel the lore team is trolling us by saying "here's god".

I find it hard to believe powerful Summoners would ever contain beings like Bard, Kindred, Aurelion Sol, Tahm Kench, etc... The retcon distorted some things but is also better in many ways.

In his lore he was tricked into servitude but, as far as we know, the IoW wasn't anywhere near Space Exploration so I doubt they could have done anything similar or wrested him away from those taking advantage of his power.

I didn't mean for that to be literally what I'd hope for, just an example of what I would think as an acceptable reason as to why he's so small and doesn't just create a sun over the enemy's nexus to win. Obviously there would be plot holes, but I think some reason is better than none. Someone else just mentioned said the game Sol is the manifestation of his power into a mortal's body and honestly if that isn't the excuse Riot is using, it should be. Cause that would explain it easy.

Sol himself considers humanity to be utterly insignificant so I doubt he would choose to include himself in the Institute of War. If he can't be forced and he won't decide to cooperate with Summoners there's no reason for his inclusion at all. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if the space-faring race was The Watchers as they have, at the very least, shown themselves capable of granting power and immortality and traveling vast distances.

I'm not trying to pick a fight, its just difficult to imagine various Champions joining or being controlled by the Institute. Even long existing Champions like Syndra, Evelynn, and Zilean... When they no longer have a reason to stay with the League, what then? How does the Institute manage such powerful beings that they don't even fully understand?

Perhaps the reason I resonate more with the retcon is because I play Brave Frontier. If you're unfamiliar with it, basically you, a Summoner, use your power to bring back the souls and bodies of past legends to serve you. These range from powerful and influential humans (Lily Matah, Zelnite, Krantz, etc...) to mythical beasts (Leorone, Exvehl, Kiravel, etc...) , machines (Duel SGX, Gildorf), and even gods (Klaus, Malbelle, Phee, etc...). Because of this, the League of Legends makes more sense to me as a literal League of Legends where myths and powerful figures battle each other.

It also fixes the issue of all League events existing in a single present. There's no progression in the lore. The lore will constantly need to be adapted as new Champions are created because, to exist in the League under the Institute of War, mortals like Caitlyn and Garen need to live in the same time as beings affected by temporal anomalies (Zilean, Lulu), immortal or near immortal beings (Lissandra, Kayle, Aatrox, Tahm Kench, etc...), undead/presumably undead beings (Karthus, Nautilus, Mordekaiser, etc...), concepts (Kindred), celestial beings (Aurelion Sol, Soraka, Bard), the Ascended who are said to be godlike (Azir, Renekton, Nasus, Xerath), and who even knows what else (Voidborn Champions, Evelynn, Maokai, Malphite). The stories can't continue, they only change as new characters are introduced. :/

This is what bothers me with this guy's theme. Tahm Kench has the excuse that "this isn't even my final form", it really breaks the character in my eyes. It's like if they created a champion who is "literally god" and then try fitting it in. At the very least, they could pull a Soraka and make him a fallen dragon or some shit.

It doesn't have to be more powerful, Aurelion probably entrusted some knowledge about cosmic magic to targonians and space-fairing empire and they used it to chain him somehow. It was his misjudged trust to make him fall rather than others being more powerful.

It's all speculation though.
