So with the retcon summoners were removed and some champs got new lore (I think Anivia dropped part about her being summoned). I was reading Malphite lore today and it still has his summoning. Why did some get new lore and Malph didn't?
Anivia's lore was reworked back durning the Freljord event.
Malph's simply wasn't done when the retcon was announced. A fair number of champions are in the same boat, with some of the worst examples being Nocturne and Fiddlesticks.
Narrative wont care about his story or its fix until they can throw him into some event to completely retcon his story into a 3 sentence "lore".
They just need to figure out a way of connecting story foundations and work on consistency from there. They can try and it's difficult to not to change current identities. This may mean looking back into LoL's time, which makes sense as there are ancient beings. Oh, look! Perfect! I suggested this (a prelude story involving Malphite).
Because the lore team didnt care enough to fix the champion's lore.
Jax, Lee Sin, Nocturne, Fiddlesticks, Taric and several other champions can not exist in the lore anymore.
Hell, they updated Warwick's lore years ago and Singed's still states he is Warwick's apprentice.
Lore team is slow. Like really slow.
Anivias lore was updated roughly a year before the retcon was announced,they didn't update that much after the retcon.
Don't worry, they'll update him next year and make him some sort of protector rock spirit of badassitude that defends Mt. Rakkor from a non-specific threat when they make a Mr. Rakkor event next year.
