Think about it. Icathia is obviously a reference to Lovecraft's "The Nameless City". And what was the Nameless City populated with? Tiny humanoids.
It would also explain Amumu. And the yordles' penchant for technology.

Somehow I always thought of Icathia as something more like Sarnath. Once a city for men, but then some unspeakable horror washed over it.
Icathia is a cyclopsian city, according to Kassadin's lore. I always figured that meant that there were once literal Cyclopse on Valoran (like the Frozen Watchers on the Howling Abyss).
IF Icatheia was originally a yordle city, then chances are small people used to live there.
And with this lore is dead( for the forth time).
Let's just say that if Ithica were a city of Yordles, Odysseus would have never returned and "The Odyssey" would not be a story.
It's importante to note that Bandle City is located just south of Icathia, and the only thing separating the yordles from Shurima is a chain of mountains. It may be safe to assume that Icathia was a city populated by yordles, that was then dominated by Void energy for some reason. Then the yordles fled to the south, built a new city (which is Bandle City nowadays) and Icathia was left in ruins, now dominated by Voidborns instead of Yordles.
This is interesting. A yordle city filled with magic, and then something terrible happens. Yordles flee and build bandle city, and stay away from magic.
