no body found = not dead.

especially with someone like TahmKench around, not to mention he is the deity of sorts in bilgewater. he would almost 100% certainly go to GP in his most desprate of times.

What does GP dying in a game-unrelated AU have to do with him being able to Summon or not in League of Legends?

Indeed. I know there's another change in lore mediums and if it affects the game...but this is getting confusing. And still didn't need the League to be removed.

The League of Legends uses summoners to choose the champions that are battling it out. The champion themselves are fighting, and the summoner is only used to teleport the champion into the summoner's rift, or any other map. The summoners themselves are not fighting, as to the champions themselves are deciding how to work their abilities. If the champion is currently presumed dead, then it is impossible to actually summon them into a rift, where, going with the name, is a portal to a completely different reality that can only be accessed through the mind. The body themselves are still there, and they're most likely kept inside the institute of war. This is of course all just a theory, but if we're going with this, then if the champion themselves are not conscious and is lifeless, then they would probably not be able to be used in matches in the rift.

TL;DR: you can't use them if their bodies are not there, Therefore gangplank is not accessible in the game.

I'm not fully convinced that Nautilus died in that video, I think he was just pinned under the rock. Since he has little way to lift it, he's going to be stuck under there for a while.

I like it but in a way it's annoying. If someone really wanted to play GP they're inconvenienced right now. And if anyone mains GP they've lost a main in ranked. I know it's niche but if I were a GP main I'd probably be quite upset that he was disabled just for kicks.

I'm sorry to tell you, but Riot has previously said that they divorced the lore from the game. There is NO reason for him to be disabled, because the game has nothing to do with the lore. If anything, this is really really annoying, especially considering they just reworked Gangplank.

I doubt that if the did really kill him off I think that they'd go in the "Dread Pirate Roberts" direction since Captain Gangplank doesn't seem like as much of a name as it does a title. Also if they made spooky gangplank his default skin then they would have to refund the rp for current spooky gangplank owners, or come up with an additional skin for the people who already owned spooky gangplank or they will be pissed.

Summoners still exist.

Summoner's Rift still exists.

Their role is just different in this new Runeterra. We still have ALOT left to be explained about this whole world. Yes, everything points to a disconnect between the lore and the game, but Riot may not be making it as a complete disconnect. Gangplank dying and affecting the game overall just tells us that there is some sort of connection left. What exactly that is, we have yet to see.

Yes, any connection leaves alot of questions, such as Lucian and Thresh, Jarvan and Swain/Sion, Vi and Jinx, MF and Gangplank?!?!? Why would any of these people even dare to be on the same team with their rivals? It doesn't make any sense.......yet.

My advice is just be patient, and see how all of this roles out. :)

I love lore. I think lore is very important. But if I were a GP main and you disabled my main without an actual gameplay reason, I would quit LoL and not have any second thoughts about it. No matter if it is or is not temporary. Because it is a crappy thing to do. It isn't funny. It isn't cute.

How can you just ignore how annoying this is to people who play Gangplank? All I've seen is tongue in cheek "we miss gp" fake sympathy. How hard is it to understand that this is a legitimate issue for gp fans and that it's severely impacting our enjoyment with the game. I really hope you never disable a champion for non gameplay reasons ever again. This isn't interesting, this isn't cute, all it's doing is being an inconvenience for people who enjoy this game. Honestly, I'm probably more upset than I should be, but I just hate how cheeky you guys are being about this.

There were several game breaking bugs discovered with GP's barrels, but we disabled GP for our Bilgewater event because he's dead.

I thought when you guys got rid of the League, it was so that the story and game could be unrelated specifically so you could kill Champions in the lore without removing them from the game - so what changed? Because this very action shows that there was literally NO POINT in getting rid of the League from the lore.
