Come on now....... WE can't even start a conversation about lore anymore....not like we used too. Can't someone just give us something that can tell us what's currently going on in runeterra? Or are we just going to slowly die off to the point where no one is going to even acknowledge lore anymore.

Most of the champion bios are old, and the ones that aren't are disgustingly short. This wouldn't be a problem if Riot were to release content more frequently, but it seems like the lore is tied mostly to champ releases/reworks (which means waiting months for updates). The champs who do have more than a paragraph about them actually have quite a bit of lore, that is, if you can find it. Unless I'm mistaken, there is no official archive for the lore pieces they do. All these problems are multiplied when you realize YOU BARELY KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT THE WORLD THESE STORIES ARE BEING TOLD IN!!! Most of the things about the world I know are based on assumptions from the old lore.
It's even worst if you're new. Most of the basic info about places in the game where things take place is learned through in game hints! Not to mention the confusion caused from the mention of the completely irrelevant "League of Legends" (which is hilarious considering that's the name of the game) in older champion bios.
To sum things up, here's

Not a lot right? Of course you're probably saying "But Bob, There's much more lore on him if you go to the wiki!", and you would be right. The problem is that if you look at the page on the website, this extended lore or a link to it is nowhere to be found, so without this knowlegde, I'm stuck thinking "Omg this new lore sucks. Why Rito D:".

However the summoners, being tied to the runic magic used to warp the world, disappeared along with it.
And so, welcome nonexistent summoner, to Season 2 of the League of Legends lore. (League doesn't exist anymore either I forgot)

While you personally may not find backstories fun or engaging, there are many people who do. Hell there are games out there dedicated to great story telling and sub par gameplay BECAUSE there are many people who enjoy a good story with todays games in general are sorely lacking.

Shenmue 3, Last Guardian, and the Final Fantasy VII Remake have been announced, as has Gears 4, the Gears of War Collection, not to mention the much begged for next Star Wars: Battlefront. Tomorrow expectations for further long-awaited games are high, as Square Enix has an amazing lineup.
And Riot hasn't even given us a new fucking map of Runeterra. A. Map.

Around last year is when the lore started going in an odd direction - when the lore weakened I went to DotA2, and with the older lore now being a confusing mess of words that may or may not be canon right now, I have no reason to return other than for friends.
Boards notwithstanding, of course. I need to keep with the meta for the sake of my friends somehow, and actual gameplay won't do it for me anymore. And also I stay on the boards for the sheer quantity of people thinking they speak for the majority of the playerbase despite the fact there may be a few thousand on the board, tops, and the rest of the multi-million playerbase doesn't go to the forums.

That was my fault for the poorly worded way of saying that and not writing out who I meant - I refer to the people who discuss balance a fair bit who think their view of any given champion reflects the views of the majority of the playerbase just because a thread is popular. The lore community tends to do that a bit less by saying that what they're saying is the view of the lore community - which would in fact be the people who come here to discuss lore.

RIOT does what any business does when it comes to trimming fat. Maybe at one point they had a team working on lore then decided once they took it down it wasn't worth putting back up.

LeeDark3 votesHotS still HAS a story, though. They just make tongue-in-cheek jokes about how bad the story has to be just so they can bring these varied universes together in one game. But even a comedic story is still a story. League had a little of that, and it was enjoyable, frankly. Simply accepting the fact that THIS is the universe the game is in and it isn't like the real world we know is part of the POINT.
Impetual6 votesLeague of Legends gained a great advantage within the MOBA market by being different. They had characters that had their own unique backstories in a world that was interconnected, and actually developed through the Journal of Justice.
For some reason Riot wants to throw that away and become more like all of the other bland MOBA's out there.
It's their funeral...but it's still kind of a shame considering their potential.
Riot had a chance to take the their game to the next level, through their awesome lore, yet for some reason they seem to have decided to throw that possibility away.
