Darkin lore update question.
Hello!
So i just read through the darkin lore update and i got kinda stuck on a point.....namely the fact that aside from gods they had another name for themselves,,,,,Sunborn.
This set my alarms ringing, Sunborn......its waaaaaay to similar to the name "iceborn" to be a simple coincidence.
But off to some conjecture,,,,,,lissandra has a monologue, in it she mentions something along the lines of "before magic shattered the broken peaks and the deserts swallowed Shurima the watchers lived in the freljord".......well that doesn't mean much for now but we know for certain that they iceborn lived in the freljord, they had their kingdom up and running with armies out and about before Shurima exploded.
Its just interesting to consider that if the broken peaks is the mountainous area Aurelion star nuked along with one of the pantheon´s then the watchers ruled Freljord before shurima was properly founded.
Then we have Targonians helping the people of Shurima with their Darkin problem, some manner of collaboration or help was going on there.
But back to the north, the Watchers wiki page claims they were from the void too in some way, but the thing is, the Ascended struggled like hell to deal with the void with countless casualties in every war, mortal and ascended alike, even their queen seems to have died to voidlings.
And yet, the Iceborn with a single army somehow rebelled against their supposedly void originated masters and even won with enough survivors to create a kingdom.....which lissandra later broke apart but plenty of people with iceborn blood in them survived.
But the odd thing here is, in Vel koz´s story i think it was, we learn that intellect means more power in the void, the dumber you are the less power overall you´ve got.
This implies that while the Frozen Watchers were more intelligent than their supposed kin still living in the void they were also less powerful, for while the voids invasions of Shurima ended with ascended dying left and right and mortal armies getting wiped out the Iceborn of the Freljord somehow won in a single war.....well not without casualties but given that their overlords had fortresses and armies helping it cant have been easy.
But there is also the possibility that the greater iceborn like lissandra are actually more powerful than most ascended, if we assume this then its possible that those like her on the side of the rebellion just slaughtered the watchers armies......but that thought is kinda scary because supposedly the watchers created entire armies of iceborn, unless the difference between the weakest and the strongest are truly massive then their average power was ridiculously high, even compared to the sunborn ascended.'
But this is all conjecture on my part, all that is known for sure is that the watchers ruled over the freljord from some point either before or post the founding of Shurima, said watchers created the Iceborn and a kingdom using those.
They had no problems with the void whatsoever as far as we know, unlike literally every other civilization that we know of except Ionia.
They then got their asses handed to them by the iceborn whom then went into civil war, apparently the survivors from the war almost all died there but their blood passed on which explains how the people there get around with so little clothing despite the cold.
Braum might be an iceborn by the way, he´s been living for centuries apparently and he is super strong and able to use that shield of his that has true ice in it, and an artifact with true ice in it can supposedly only use the true ice´s power in the hands of the iceborn.
So,,,,,,,,anyone else really curious about the frozen watchers? Those fellows are supposedly originated from the void yet did not eat everything organic or corrupt their surroundings like the void does in Shurima, they also super powered humans and founded a Kingdom for reasons unknown.
And even after they went and got stuck in a deep hole the entirety of Freljord still seems void-free......this because its too damn cold to invade even for space monsters or some other reason? Voidlings considering deep frozen food to be unpalatable?
The relationship between iceborn and sunborn?
Who knows^^
All i know it seems to be a massive setup for a Freljord lore update if anything, the name sunborn is just too similar to iceborn to be a coincidence and the absence of void in Freljord is just reaaaally strange.
Thanks for reading^^
