I really want to think of Fizz as Makara.
Edit: Nevermind that idea was crushed.
The Makara are (as far as I remember) mostly crustacean vastaya, so no.
And just to clear the waters; Fizz isn't a vastaya. If a champion wasn't updated here, they aren't vastaya.
Wow, so that leaves a lot of champions who I assumed were Vastayan out. I was almost certain
was one, since it felt like they added shapeshifters to the Vastaya just for her.
not being Vastayan is also surprising. Rengar's story confirms that there are Vastayans outside of Ionia, so It's odd the ursine aren't.
Also totally thought
was one, given Xayah's voice interaction with him. I guess he somehow stole the power from a true Vastayan, or it was given to him.
and
most definetly are at least RELATED to the Vastaya. The Shapeshifters aren't seen as 'true Vastayan' and are kind of the misc. category for them, just a few individuals who just so happen to have enough Vastayan heritage to tap into their more chimeric forms. Nidalee may be a more natural Vastayan shapeshifter, whereas Swain is most likely 'artifical' in a sense since Rakan mentions he's a 'poser' and was "given Vastayan blood."
As for the Ursine, I belive that they have established themselves as very distinct and separate species yet have some form of Vastayan origin deep within them, as seen by beings like
and
. If not, they could be something completely different, as the key characteristic to a Vastaya is how they resemble humans more (take a look at Nami's fish-boobies, or how much Xayah, Rakan and Ahri look human).
Nidalee's probably got vastayan heritage for her shapeshifting, but shapeshifters in that manner aren't true vastaya.
Swain's a weird one and until he comes out I'd recommend not taking those interactions without a heavy amount of skepticism. Things are still a bit up in the air for him.
Volibear and the Ursine are far too bloody scary to be vastaya.
