World objects, festivals, cultures, mythology, astrological maps, history, wars, NPCs, flora & fauna, explanation for techmaturgy, hextech, runes, magic in general....

LeeDark3 votesWhich will be a test of the new lore. Realistically, the Harrowing should just WRECK a beleaguered Bilgewater at war with itself. They will once again have to employ some serious deus ex machina to keep the status quo somewhat recognizable.
I could respect Bilgewater being swallowed by the Shadow Isles icky fog, and all of its champions becoming exiled until another event progresses the story. Given Jaredan's words here, I highly doubt that will be the case. They look to be going the deus ex machina route, and that is a difficult tactic for even some of the best writers to pull off convincingly. For it to get the same respect, it better be damn good, or tied to an absolutely amazing and fun new champion. I doubt they would release another new champion so soon, and I also doubt Narrative can pull off a story that good.

The Red Warden3 votesI am worried with how you will approach the harrowing event from here-on-out as it seems you are heading towards the same problem that Fallout: New Vegas did when it added the tunnelers in with its fourth dlc. The tunnelers were a problem because once you heard about them and how dangerous they are it makes the rest of your actions in the game feel meaningless, as they will eventually take over the wasteland no matter what faction you sided for. They are creatures that come in swarms, breed faster than you can kill them, with each requiring 2-3 strong fighters to actually take down. It will just become a war of attrition that the human race has no way of beating.
I bring them up because the harrowing seems to be heading towards a similar situation. Each Harrowing is stronger and larger than the last. Which requires a larger fighting force to fight them off, but that only means more zombies will attack you the next year while you have less soldiers. It just seems like a hopeless battle of attrition that makes anything happening in Bilgewater meaningless, as the entire island chain has at most 10 years before its population is either forced to evacuate or become zombified.

Smithney1 votesThe thing is, while the Shadow isles is a powerful threat, it isn't the biggest threat in more than 99% of the year (unless one year has less than 100 days on Runeterra :). Kinda like the Xmas of Futurama. That means Bilgewater has enough time to make enemies every year...
...until they are destroyed by an overwhelming wave of Harrowing one day.
But as long as Bilgewater has enough oranges gunpower to survive, everything should be K.
The Red Warden1 votesThe problem and why it currently seems possible for Bilgewater to keep fighting is in how long it takes humans to grow up. It takes at minimum 16 years before a person's body matures enough that they can pose a physical threat to the undead. Zombies on the other hand can kill a human one day after being infected, or in the case of the Harrowing 1 year.
The Harrowing will eventually take over Bilgewater because zombies can be raised in a much shorter time than it takes a human to grow up and be trained as a soldier.
