Summoners Rift: The story now.

Obviously we haven't gotten an update on the reasons why champions fight on summoners rift. But I can't help but speculate about it. One thing I noticed (across the Krugs on red/formally purple side) is that there is a sword embedded in stone. This leads me to think that it was a battlefield (obviously it is a battlefield, but it's had more than just these champions).

We also have the two different colors and minions. Blue and Red. Protectorate and Magelords? Maybe the nexus is a warmachine that continuously creates soldiers unless destroyed or commanded to stop.

I'm just spitballing here. Anyone have thoughts on Summoners Rift?

Well there's some indication as to what happened, in particular the Aatrox carving, the gravestones, a random void monster in the middle of a ruin, so we can hypothesize about things in that regard.

My personal thoughts are that Summoner's Rift was a battlefield between two factions who utilized summoning magic, potentially fighting for control of the mountain they built their fortresses upon. They used their magic in different ways, with blue side's magic being controlled and regulated while red side's was volatile and used with more reckless abandon. The beings on the Rift such as the Sentinels and Bramblebacks are as a result of this magic abuse. Blue side was getting beaten, but the timely arrival of Aatrox spurred them on to roll over the red side. Desperate to win the red side delved in to dark magic and brought forth a void monster that would later be known as Baron Nashor, but the mighty alien worm cared not for its summoners and ravaged both forces, driving everyone from its newly conquered domain.

That was my thoughts at any rate.

Riot has drawn parallels to Smash Bros. Smash is just a kid playing with his toys.

Therefore, League is clearly Dinosaur Gnar playing with Garen and Kat action figures.

I did post a theory that the worlds collide video gave subtle hints as to how summoners work on the rift, but it got Buried by "where harrowing" threads

Ah makes me miss the days when the reasons for fighting were to preserve peace rather than fuel fan speculation.
