Why? Her new lore is better, and fits more with Lissandra's character, than her old lore that painted her as a zealot to the Void, like Malzahar.
I always thought of Lissandra as the queenly type who will stab anyone in the back to get to the top, and apparently so does Riot.
I mean, we could say that both lores are canon... You can imagine that she was helping the Watchers until she noticed that they were from the Void and their goal was to destroy everything, not freeze everything like she thought... So, she said "Nope" and now is trying to stop them.
We just need the bio to be cleaned up. It's going in too many directions and we don't really get a sense of the character, at least not an accurate one.
Riot just needs to rewrite it to convey their story more clearly. They don't need to change what it is, they just need to make it more comprehensible.
