The REAL reason why disabling champs in-game for lore-related things is a bad idea

Way back when the lore was retconned, Riot said that League of Legends could be a way for their characters to interact without actually being literally part of their world. Think about fighting games. Soul Calibur 5 for example. Ezio Auditore can fight Nightmare, but that doesn't mean it actually happens in either of their storylines.

Think of League, the game, as just having cameos of all champions.

I agreed with this idea even though many people didn't. It frees up many things to be done for lore and story while giving League of Legends a new novelty feel.

Yet, knowing this, why would you disable Gangplank just because he "died?" Because he could transform into a god damn alien and he still would be able to be played in his current form in League of Legends because of what YOU (Riot) said about your own lore. Hell, all the champs could die to a giant magical nuke, and there would still be absolutely no excuse to disable them, because YOU YOURSELF said that the game has no relation to lore. Just because you see Lissandra mid against Orianna doesn't mean it actually happened in their respective storylines.

I should mention that yes, I DO understand that you were trying to be "cool" and "unique" by thinking "Hey, what if, if GP dies in our story, he dies in game too? How cool would that be? Do you guys want to do this?" but this isn't working. It isn't working because YOU YOURSELF stated that lore has no bearing to the GAME of League of Legends because you said the GAME is separate from the STORY.

Why is everyone so upset about the silly "GP is disabled" thing. It's a joke. They're not deleting him or anything. Is there a huge pile of SUPER HARDCORE Gangplank players out there who utterly REFUSE to play anyone else for a day or so? I saw it... I laughed... I played a different champ.... the end. Don't get your panties in a bunch. The lore for this event was VERY good by riot standards... let's not discourage them from putting out more stuff of this caliber.

Lets not think of Soul cal V at all because that game sucked. Huge downgrade from Soul Cal 4. They tossed my boi young sun aside and several other characters.

He is disabled because of a glitch interaction between GP and Draven. It just so happens to coincide with the lore.

Calm down, take a deep breath and play another champ for a day or two. He will be back.

You know,if they didn't sever lore and game, then they'd have to remove GP permanently(because he can't participate in the league anymore, for obvious reasons),but its obvious that GP is going to return, they won't delete a champ like that(also it was all because of a glitch)

I think he was disabled, and they just rolled with the obvious joke.

Remember, Vel'Koz was disabled for being engrossed in anal.........yzing poros.

GP was disabled as a cause, not the effect. The joke is the effect, not the cause. I doubt Riot would disrupt ranked queues and people's gameplay with GP just for a lore joke.
