Question: Do you think Singed was trying to make his own Vastaya during the WW experiment?
He was in Ionia though. I get teh feeling he had to encounter one at some point.

It said he was inspired by "chimera like creatures" when making WW. It stands to reason that those creatures are the Vastaya as they didn't have an official name yet when WW was made. I don't think he was trying to make a Vastaya per say, but more like he was inspired by them, took the concept and made his own, pretty much going "that's cool, but I can do better". Instead of magic, he gave him chemicals to fuel him, then to make up for the lack of powers, used chem-tech to give Warwick abilities like his "1000-degree claws".

This is a very interesting theory, and an idea I'd never thought about until now... Personally, I don't think Singed was necessarily trying to create his own Vastayan.
We all know Warwick was is his experiment to create a killing machine using the ferocity of a wolf, perhaps as a sort of successor to ZAC as a superior weapon? Whether he was attempting to merge a human with a Vastayan or not (I'm open to either), that was the fundamentally basic gist of his plan. Create a weapon to surpass Metal Gear all other weapons.
As I said earlier, I'm not opposed to either the idea that Singed actually did take some inspiration from some Vastayan encounters while making his plans for creating the creature, such as his choice to use an animal specifically, or whether he actually did try and create one. Perhaps he saw the ferocity of the Vastayan and equated it to the animal half, and thought that animals are far superior as killing machines to Chembarons or robots, similar to how Viktor believes that metal is superior to flesh. Thus, combining the ferocity of an animal (a wolf) with the intelligence of a human (Warwick). Not necessarily trying to create his own Vastayan, but definitely trying to recreate their strength and intimidation.
