Volibear's rework

So, I gotta be honest here. I'm not a huge fan of the design. Not in the sense that it's not a cool design, it just doesn't feel very Volibear to me. If I understand correctly, he's basically a god of war, correct? Fighting is his thing and his lore talked about how battle hardened he was but so far on his design I just see a naked bear with a loin cloth, some blue spikes and scratches on his nose. I was expecting something more war driven, like maybe broken spears and arrows sticking out of his back or battle worn armor. Maybe I misunderstood his lore but I was just thinking it would be really cool if he had more specific details like that on him. The design is cool don't get me wrong, it just feels... empty? Like it's missing something to me. Just my personal opinion /shrug

Fiddlesticks looks dope though! I love his design since it sticks close to the original but seems far more creepy. I will miss his old walk animation though :P

Agreed, I feel like even if they went with this route, they could have added some weapons stuck in his back to represent his version from the freljord-story a bit better.

Also Voli stole a suit of armor from Ornn didn't he?Shouldn't he wear it?Wasn't Volis whole concept "armored bear"?

they chose to show volibear at his most primal state, which makes it make sense that he ain't covered in weapons, and because the volibear mains wanted it to be similar to his old look. it should also be mentioned that this design could be a sorta contrast to how he is viewed in the lore so far. now we will see things from HIS perspective, and that's why his design is more godly then monstrous

but I do prefer the thousand pierced look too. yet, I also understand the reasoning for this look

I'm extremely disappointed as well, but I at least think I know the justification in the lore they're gonna use. Volibear in Silence for the Damned was an avatar, meaning his mind likely inhabited one of the larger ursine and that ursine became even larger and more monstrous due to his presence. It was hinted at by the oily burned face and the fact he isn't in his real mountain massive god body that Ornn beat his ass in the past. Volibear agreed to join Sejuani because he needed bodies to do some weird ritual and create a new body for himself. Perhaps this is his new body, which serves a meta narrative and allows this goreless, silky smooth new guy we have before us to make sense. Still, I'd rather have demon bear and at the VERY LEAST they should put the weapons in his back.

I'm not a fan of the fucking hair being braided.

It's also a sketch, I wouldn't put too much stock in how it looks right now. All that blue will likely be glowing, and his design is still being iterated on.

To be dead fair. We're getting our more in-depth Nexus blog about his a Fiddlesticks process like tomorrow or something.

I agree with the sentiment this community has, compared to the desires/pandering to old Voli mains but we only have one image glimpse and it is just conceptual art.

why would a god of war choose to take on a form (since he can have different appearances to others) that makes him look like he's ever been hit in battle? Maybe he hasn't ever been hit. Maybe hes that good XD

Just posing silly questions, I have no objection to your opinion or the chosen path Riot has taken for the God bear

Yeah, I mean it's just the start it's definitely open to changes later :) I am excited to see his runeguard skin upgraded!
