@Riot - Skin concept art...?

I like what you have done recently with releasing templates of champions so it's easier for people to design skins. I also like the fact that in some posts recently (Jhin's for example), that y'all have posted concepts of his evolution through development. I was just wondering if at all possible if you all (coughKateyKhaoscough) could possibly look into to releasin concept art of skins you have released and their evolution through time... Not like all skins, but maybe some of the bigger ones like the legendaries and ultimates.... Maybe even that new Diana skin wink wink

P.S- about that Diana skin...? Can we have any sort of information on it? I loooove Diana! Nearing 100k mastery points. I'm eagerly awaiting this skin and hope it's epic!

Hey Blainezy!

We have been trying to share a bit more art - I think it's an awesome way to show you the work that goes into the skins, but also to show you the process that we work through! It's also cool to see some of the ideas that we'd come up with and which direction we've chosen.

As for diana, she's still in the concept phase. We didn't intend for her to come out immediately after the event, which is why you haven't seen her out on PBE. While we are working on her, we have other skins that are taking priority, such as Sweetheart Sona and Heartseeker Orianna because they're associated with Valentine's Day!

Oh yea I forgot about the Snow Down post, but I did read it! I'm no artist myself, but I love reading and looking at things like that.

I don't expect her to be done, I knew it would take time to develop the Diana skin since you didn't know which team was going to win. I was just wondering how far along it was. I am super excited for her though, so I can't wait to see her! Hope it's awesome.

I'm the same way - I'm always peeking at what artists are working on in house! A lot of artists have ArtStations or DeviantArt pages where you can creep, too! Off the top of my head Paul Kwon posts a lot of concept art! [Maddy Kenyon] is a character artist and also has a ton of awesome work posted! I also tweet concept art when I find it sneakin' around. :P

Oh these are nice even though I play neither of these champions! However, Blood Moon Diana still a no show :( Just gets more and more depressing every time there are Blood Moons without her. Haha.

Since you've worked on Guardian of the Sands skins, may I humbly suggest Galio as a great candidate for a new skin on that line? I love the guy and feel like he deserves the skin.

That said, those concepts are amazing, all of them. I'm happy you shared!

Hmm not a bad choice. I think we felt like we had made enough Guardians of the Sand last year to let it cool, but if it fits the champion in the future we may do some more. I wonder how many of a skin thematic is a good amount? I feel like at least 10 (2 in each role) would give you good flexibility while fielding a full 5-man team.

While we're suggesting skins to add to a theme, how about High Noon Malzahar? (After the mage update, of course.) He definitely has the attire to be westernized and Outlaw (space (aids)) Cowboy is the perfect place to throw in a nice subtle reference and turn his voidlings into cough fireflies.

My two cents; So long as the skins stay awesome, all the champs is the right answer. Having a Battlecast version of every single non-humans out there? Damn right i'd take it! While Steel Legion for now is Demacia, Project already goes to Targon, Ionia and Demacia. There's no reason not to do all the champs for both skin lines, provided you just find the right designs!

Granted that'll take a bit of a while. But hey, when you want to do an all-skin theme, it widens your options so no one can really complain.

That said, there's never enough different skin lines and at the same time there's almost too many for you guys to follow up on already. There's a few older skin lines that i feel deserve some love too. But that's just me.

I feel the same way! But let's do some quick maths; if we have ~130 champs and plan on releasing as many new champs as we did last year every year (5-6) then even if we did a PROJECT patch of 5 skins every single year we would never get any closer to giving every champion a PROJECT skin. And we aren't planning on doing 5 of the same skin line every year (outside of the World Championship skins of course).

If we wanted to give every single champion a PROJECT skin, with animation, particles, SFX etc. let's see how long that might take. We produced ~60 skins of this calibre last year so if we can keep that up it'll take more than two years of nothing but project skins to have one for every champion. If we want to do the same for a few more of our popular thematic suddenly we are looking at 6-8 years! We'd probably go mad from doing the same stuff over and over too :P

As I said though, I feel the same way and when the right champions come up I always like to suggest popular skin themes for them. We will keep working hard and I think after another year or so you'll be able to flexibly field thematically cohesive teams and look super fly >:)

Kidding. You guys are the best at what you do and I trust that whatever great skin lines you decide to work on, it'll be because it's worth it. Of course, i'm still going to play favorites.

I've never quite seem to be able to stick to and finish most of the projects i work on, whether it's writing or drawing, so I would know; props to you guys for working the way you do and actually delivering all those great skins all year long. Thanks!

I'm loving the concept arts! I'm currently in the first year at my school, Hoping to get allowed to study Game Art next year. These concept arts are really interesting to see, and Riot Penguin's fan arts are amazing! The ElderWood Karthus and the Barbarian Lord GP are SO AWESOME summoner 31

She just seems like the first person who should have gotten Blood Moon. I'm just hoping she gets a good 1350 tier skin. With actual noticeable changes unlike the current two.. However, the new summoner icons released on PBE today.................One is Kennen, one is Yasuo, but the other is Diana's head crest...sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo?????? Lol
