Did Taric ever think Garen's baby sister was beautiful? And if so, did Garen ever go ballistic if Taric made a move on Lux?
IMO, Garen's being made out to be much more of a jerkass. Hopefully that won't extend to Lux.

I think there's a little more than meets the eye to what Garen did to Taric. He could have killed him. But it's mentioned that the whole "Crown of Stone" thing is usually used by people who it gets forced upon to just leave Demacia.
Maybe, and again, this might just be the Garen fan in me speaking, Garen knew Taric wasn't going to last long in Demacia, things were going downhill. This was a way to get him out, and to still keep up the ol' Demacian Justice thing Garen's so obsessed with. If he wanted Taric dead, he could have killed him then and there.
Lux had a pretty distant relationship with her brother in the old canon: "Garen, the Might of Demacia, her long-lost brother, stood before her. His face was stern, yet kind, and exactly how she had imagined he would look in real life, having only seen him in the League match broadcasts since he had been taken away.", so if they're keeping that angle (And given that they do seem to want to preserve the darker parts of Demacia, I would guess they would), I don't think either of them would care that much about one another's personal lives, unless it involved the military. Lux is also hella brainwashed, though, so she might object to Taric out of pure DEMACIAness.
