So GP, TF, and Graves got their lores updated.

And few people seem to care. Even though these lores are everything that everybody was asking for, nobody seems to care.

Ekko comes out with one paragraph and everybody complains and whines.

Graves comes out with 15 paragraphs and no one admits their wrongs and gives credit to Riot. (well a few brave souls have, but not nearly as many people who were complaining)

I made this thread partly to say I told you so. You kept complaining for no reason about something you couldn't change, while I waited for decent lore to come through and lo and behold, decent lore has come through.

And so few people seem to care.

As much as I'm loving the heck out of this event (it's the first time in ten months that I got excited about League and felt like spending some money to show them I appreciate it), it doesn't erase them turning Ashe into a spineless puppy-eyed waif defined entirely by the bow she found in a ditch rather than her own achievements or personality, or erasing Trundle and replacing him with a completely new character, or the entire bollocks that was the Shurima event and everyone connected to it.

Yes, it's great that the narrative team did Bilgewater right by largely leaving champions associated with it exactly as they were pre-rework and turning Bilgewater itself into less of a blank slate. They still have to do right by Freljord and Shurima fans, as well as all champions who got shoehorned into Shurima for no reason and mangled in the process.

They pulled off a very nice and convincing stride in the right direction. It will take them more than that to fix the ill feelings left behind by stumbling about the lore like a bull in a china shop. So while it's great that those of us who love Bilgewater are having fun, keep in mind that it doesn't necessarily include fans who are still hurt by the past retcons.

Someone in one of the complaint threads, before this lore event came out, said that it'd be great. He said that it'd be great, everyone would love it, and then it would mean nothing. Lore would again be a barren few months of Riot not caring until the next "event", where the cycle would repeat.

It is nice to see lore. It was pretty interesting lore too - lore that showed off the character's personalities in an impressively dynamic way. We don't really have much to complain about in that immediate department, but that doesn't really change the vast wrongs that Riot pulled off and are still running away with.

Even this installment of lore could have been done with the Institute of War still around, which would have given more room for a living world and an interconnected, over-arching plot. I just don't think Riot wants to bother with such headachy, complex things. I could have seen the IoW taken a route similar to the message of Fallout's lore, if they wanted, but they threw that in the trash so what else do I have to say except that I disapprove of their choices?

Gangplank has fine lore.

TF and Graves is a travesty. Why? Because now T.F didn't betray Graves due to his want of magic. Now he's dealing with Graves being so stubborn that he won't listen to T.F about a "misunderstanding."

Yes, T.F and Graves are fighting over a misunderstanding. Not a full betrayal to get magic. A misunderstanding. TF already has magic now.

Fuck that. Old TF and Graves lore is far better. Period.

And you probably missed the threads with people discussing how much they liked the work that was given, and that we actually hope to see more of that shit come for the previous champions released.

It's so easy to pretend like it doesn't exist.
