Varus was teased in 2012 Even after the lore update to UNIVERSE , his lore remained the same

Indicating that the base of his lore was already up to today's standards So here we are in 2017, wondering why his Darkin is different than the others

But i am here, with some lore and answers to you And i will do it using these paragraphs :

**TEXT 1 : **

He was most surprised, perhaps, when - on his first night's vigil - it began to speak.

** Not with words**, no - words would have been much easier to deflect. It spoke in moments, mostly: images, sensations. It knew of people, it could taste them on the air. It knew that they had a hive at the base of its hill, where they writhed in their nonsense bodies. Varus could sense its confusion, and something like hurt; the isolation of the temple had accrued in it.** It wanted to show him something he would like. It wanted to make something for him. Its urge was to please.**

**INFORMATION 1 : **

  • Varus and the Darkin are mentally communicating
  • (lore-wise) That's why they don't speak to each others out-loud
  • (game-wise) Voice acting limitations, so there was no need to implement dialogues
  • The Darkin want to please (not something Aatrox or Rhaast would do)

**TEXT 2 : **

This was not the "implacable beast" he had been sworn to contain.

**INFORMATION 2 : **

  • The Darkin doesn't look aggressive, weird for an entity of destruction and war

**TEXT 3 : **

"Now?" it offered, confident in the reply.

"No," replied Varus.

[...] He heard a voice, then, or the idea of a voice, which said, pleadingly, "Now?"

[...] "NOW?"

[...] he could see the village burning; again, he had to see it all again.

[...] Perhaps he would not find his broken wife alongside his broken boy [...] He was given a vision then of a thousand, thousand dead. It was a wedge pounded through his ribs and into his heart. He fell to his knees.

"Now?" It was almost a whisper.

"Now," Varus whispered back. "Now, $ù@# you."

**INFORMATION 3 : **

  • the Darkin ASKED POLITELY if he can get into Varus, absolute madman
  • we can also see he's inciting him by showing that his people need him

**TEXT 4 : **

And when he did so [...] the placid disc of the pool** reached up from its heart** and splashed out [...]. It was flowing through the air, around the curling smoke until it struck Varus off his feet. It peeled his hand, digesting it, consuming the bow. It ate both arms, and both legs, stopping out of... respect [...].

**INFORMATION 4 : **

  • To corrupt Varus, he didn't even need a contact
  • The Darkin flow through the air directly into Varus' heart
  • He HAD THE POWER to access Varus, but he waited for a permission
  • This madman **respect **Varus' body, not like Rhaast turning his hosts into dust

TL;DR : Varus' Darkin is respectful and polite They communicate with memes

Personnal Theory : He was sealed somehow like the others Darkins Maybe he was as horrible as the others, before But it's as if he regretted his past actions after so many years of captivity I almost feel like he want to redeem himself by using his destructive nature, to help

He gives me the impression of the character Baby in the excellent movie Baby Driver

It still being the same doesn’t indicate the base of his Lore is up to standards. It just means they havent gotten to it yet. It might be, but that’s not confirmed.

Just wanted to make that correction
