That's pretty board. However I think there are stylings to LM that are pretty awesome and Cait could use a treatment that brings in more style. I wouldn't propose copy-pasting, I would propose cohesion and style. Some of that cohesion and style that's on Lady Mechanika could be appropriate for Cait.

Unsure if the google images I found of "Caitlyn VU" where the right ones, but since it resembled your picture I assume so.

The only thing I don't like about it is her hat. It's always been excessively tall, and I like it that way! Other than that, she already has the Steampunk theme, it's just not very detailed. Simply taking what she has and expanding on it will inevitably make her look a certain way.

I don't think they are getting rid of the hat (at all). As I understand it, included in the Piltover designs is some artifact that "clashes" with the general design without completely destroying it's cogency. These exist to add a bit of character flair and are generally made to work with, rather than against the design.

Vi has her frill things, Caitlyn has her hat.

Make sure to keep the miniskirt too. I like that.

Add in the hat and I do believe we have a winner.

Add a tophat, and you have the next Caitlyn.

Get on it Parrot! =D

This may or may not end up into a debate between whether her hat is really practical on her or not, and then segway into why that's okay but mini-skirt isn't...

But either way, Lady Mechanika is a little too messy imo. With the fisher-pricing they've been doing with texture updates, it looks like Riot wants their champions to look more plain to better suit the new SR update instead of more detailed ones.

Outside of that, she looks a little too serious. Caitlyn's always come off as a girly-girl, not just from her background where she relies on daddy's money to equip herself to fight crimes. Or the fact that she hides in the safety of distance to snipe enemies off from afar, which is a trait that doesn't lend itself well to badassery or courage.

b'sides, look. Lady Mechanika has boobs, you just know that certain people will just focus all of their criticisms just on the very idea that a female would have female anatomy!

(Don't get me wrong, she looks amazing. But I don't think basing Caitlyn's VU on that is the best route to go for reasons I described above)

No he wants her to be lady mechanika with a top-hat!

As long as her retarded hat doesn't come back, any Caitlyn VU is better. Oh, and lose the horrible false accent while you are at it.

My two cents on a Caitlyn's VU are as follows: I'd keep her bad fashion sense. Her goofyness is part of her charm, imho. Given that she's a sniper she shouldn't go the heavy-donned steampunk way. Otherwise it would overlap too much with Vi and while it could be good to stress the fact they're both from Piltover it would make her less unique and more of an enforcer rather than a detective. With this I mean she's the Sheriff, ok, but her gig is about investigation and it would make sense for her to investigate in plain clothes. Uniforms are for the bulk of the police personnel, those with tasks which need them to be recognizable as officers. Caitlyn as more the detective type should be allowed to wear plain clothes to do her investigations. The question is then "doesn't the rifle bring too much attention for one investigating disguised as a civilian"? And the answer could be her hat! Her rifle could be a compound one stored in her tall fashionable hat (maybe in Piltover that's the trend).

Edit: In case you go with a totally different and not goofy look on her I'd go with a traditional skin. I know Riot's stance on the subject has changed since you feel you deliver much better with visual updates and reworks, but if you just change her look from a fashion standpoint a traditional skin could help a great deal those who liked her poor fashion sense =(
