Why is a star making dragon god fighting....

StoryDuck··7 votes·1,535 views

Whatever he is fighting I don't think it is as important as why he is fighting. With aspect of death fighting on equal terms with a hamster with darts i think it is safe to say something weird is going on. What is the Rift? As far as we can tell it is a place where mortals, elementals, aspects of nature and gods fight to the death. I think that is the key; the reason why gods, monsters, men, and hamsters fight is because The Rift has the power to make all those being equal. Think about the power of such a location that it could weaken a god to such extent that a drunkard throwing kegs of beer could kill them. That power is literally unlimited and even more powerful then gods. A being could take an aspect of reality like death and kill it here! You can literally change the rules of reality by controlling the Rift. If a god is fighting another god they would certainly want this power. The problem is that any mortal with a knack for fighting could kill them while they try to take it. This is why A Star Forging, Sun crushing, super dragon god has come to the rift. Aurelion Sol wants to change something, some rule of reality or who knows what.

i like this idea

I'm glad you like it. It always bugged me why all these super powers were fighting. I was inspired about the idea from The Dresden Files. There was a similar location (and a point in time) tied into killing immortals and taking their power and that kind of power in LOL would be ridiculous.

They removed the rift from the lore. It's no longer a thing. Deliberate detachment from lore and gameplay.

Lame. Well then its just stupid fighting where gods are apparently weaker then a guy throwing cards.

Dude, like you're playing the game because of lore. I care lore, but I dont think about the lore when I'm playing Bard or Xerath. Gameplay is pretty different than lore. I would rather to get killed by Teemo while playing Aurelion Sol because I dont wanna feel unfair. It's also correct for other side. I dont wanna get killed by Aurelion Sol in micro second.

And I know you're going to say then why do we have god champions, then just release Graves level champions. And I say you, why not? They're interesting, they're pleasure to look at, read and see their awesome visual effects. You still feel powerful in game, just not unfair.

Just because gameplay doesn't give a chance to realistic power levels, it doesn't mean we can't have powerful champions! Aurelion Sol is not the only godlike champion in story, but no one didn't care about this that much until this moment. Bard, Nasus, Azir, Renekton, Xerath, Kindred, Veigar, Syndra. All of them are already pretty powerful champions in lore and they still get killed by Teemo like what will happen to Aurelion Sol.

People are just complaining to complain.

What a good argument. 2 sentences answer for my long message make me feel like I'm talking to wall.

At least it is a magic talking one.

Well, I'm not going to argue about whether I'm playing the game for it's lore or not and a statements like "People are just complaining to complain." is just looking to troll. My post is to point out a plausible reason for such disparity of lore power to be balanced and why such godly powers would be fighting for it. This has nothing to do with matching champions in game power to their lore. If I wanted that I would post in gameplay not story. I thought my idea was clever but I was told that the location "The Rift" was completely removed from LOL lore. I thought that was a lame decision by Riot. What you are attempting to do is introduce an argument into a post that is a simple statement/idea.

They've been ramping it up more and more over time. Pantheon, Leona and Diana didn't used to be divine forces. Bard and Kindred are recent additions. They intentionally threw out all of the old lore with nothing to replace it, and now they just seem to be engaging in wanton "lore power creep".

Yes, plenty of people don't care about lore, and that's fine. But presumably someone does - including whoever's writing it - and in that context how does it make sense to have MF fighting Aurelion Sol? Why even have lore at all if that's going to be the standard?

Diana, Leona and Pantheon are nowhere close to Aurelion Sol, or any ascended.

Diana got bleed by voidborns, Leona had hard moments against humans and Pantheon seems more like superhuman guy with spear and shield. I really dont think they're that strong.

So, godlike champions are highly in minority.

Azir Xerath Bard Kindred Renekton Nasus Veigar Syndra Karthus

I can count that much and last 3 probably dont even belong to god-like tier list.

Aurelion Sol will not break the power creep, people are just overestimating.

Kindred isn't even that powerful as they cannot kill anyone themselves. They are more like escorters, forcibly bringing those who die to true death. They are the end, and as such, they appear at every death and near death. If someone is stabbed, that may be what everyone else sees, but the person feels either the bite of an arrow, or the tearing of teeth (depending on whether they accepted it or not). Another theory is that Kindred acts on the spirits of the recently deceased (so that they can still fight back when under attack or being murdered, instead of having the world disappear and being hunted by Kindred) but when they die they can either accept their death, and choose to have their spirit die/be moved to the afterlife(whichever is the true one) by Lamb, or they can frantically try to get back to life and be hunted down by Wolf.

Yeah I know, but I still find them worth to point out. At least they cannot be killed. Not even by Aurelion Sol.

Aurelion Sol could kill all of those champions by shifting slightly to the left (especially Veigar, who isn't godlike in any way, shape, or form).

He's literally larger than the setting of the game. His is a power of such scale he makes every other champion's struggles meaningless in comparison. There is no realistic way Aurelion Sol could want something and not get it. He's too powerful, and unlike Kindred (who is essentially powerless) and Bard (who is inhuman in mindset and aspect), Aurelion Sol doesn't give off the impression that he's anything more than a colossal human-like dick in the form of a dragon. He has no place in League's story as a protagonist, and he should never have been made like this. His very presence cheapens the lore.

Hmm, in this situation, I really think people are overestimating his powers. Not like I think Riot wouldn't release a champion that much powerful, but also has a problem with a quote. Why would Aurelion Sol had to say I destroy mountains while he can destroy Runeterra, stars, or even galaxies?

He is hell strong, but not that much I think. And no, Xerath wouldn't die with only a slight lefting. Dont underestimate the resistance of Xerath.

If Aurelion Sol can actually create stars, as in, real balls of nuclear fusion many times the size of Runeterra, he could easily destroy the planet of Runeterra without any effort, including Xerath. Xerath would be billions of times weaker than Aurelion Sol by every showing he has.

Does it matter if his energy is alive if he has nowhere to live? Aurelion Sol could destroy the entire planet effortlessly - Xerath surviving that is still just a being pointlessly floating in space.

He still can't be killed though. Xerath can find another planet if he wants to live. Anyway, Xerath is not someone who seeks to live, he doesn't breathe, he doesn't eat, he doesn't sleep. He can stand in space as he wants.

Xerath is not something Aurelion Sol can destroy.

The same way he destroyed that star, which is similarly insubstantial in form and with much higher energy than Xerath. Aurelion Sol has power over cosmic energies much larger than Xerath.

Xerath's energy much denser than a star and it's not cosmic energy, which I think Aurelion Sol can't control.

Well see it this way: The way Sol looks in the teaser,he couldn't interact with runeterra without destroying the whole planet. And considering that that would be a pretty lame end for the lore(giant space dragon from nowhere),it is safe to say that he doesn't want to end runeterra and he might need to take a form that lowers his powers(maybe he'll even have a vessel similar to pantheon and atreus or the sun and leona) in order to be able to interact with that place properly.

Thats just my theory about this.

They could easily make a champion like Aurelion Sol as the exact same character and champion, and just not make his lore so OP?

He could be appropriately sized. A dragon from the Freijlord or something. He terrorizes both Ashe and Sejuani's tribes alike and often causes severe casualties but never manages to take down the leader.

The whole OP factor is only fun because some players like playing champions that are like that. It doesn't make sense and is completely unnecessary from the game perspective though. It's only necessary to attract another type of player - and these same people are likely to be the ones who follow every OP champion and play every new champion in ranked immediately. I.e. maybe they're players that we don't want to attract?

Nonetheless, the current trend has been assigning insane power levels to the new champions lore-wise. And it's unnecessary. They could easily be the exact same champion with the exact same kit, and just be proportional to the other champions on the rift.

Making Aurelion Sol less powerful will not change anything. He will still continue to die by Teemo. Like how Xerath dies. OP complains about it, not about Aurelion Sol's powers.

I'm sure Riot is much better at making story than Boards community. I'm just recommanding to stop crying and waiting for his lore. May be he isn't that strong, may be we're just overestimating him.

Sure, but are we playing a game or reading a story?

We can read a great story with some of the OP lore-wise characters in this game as different characters that are not playable in the game. As a player, I feel the lore is inappropriate for what I'm playing. I don't care that much since there are authors who write immensely better stories than Riot will ever accomplish and will use those for my reading desires - league I play for gameplay only. Regardless though, I find it unnecessary. It would be easy to have just had all champions in League be on reasonably similar levels. Or to have an explanation for why some seemingly more powerful champions are on a level playing field on the rift (like OP suggests). Riot just chooses not to, because they want to enter the story space or something. Maybe it will make them some money. I don't like it though - I'd rather have a lore consistent with the game I'm playing. Not because I'm going to read heavily in to the lore, but just because I want a way to connect with the persona of the champions I'm playing and have a more immersed feeling when playing the game.

They can't satisfies everyone anyway. I have more pleasure to read god-like champions rather than Vi, Ekko, Teemo. So it is all about the preference rather than '' being shitty ''.

Weak champions are highly in majority already, let us have god-like beings. Don't complain about the power of champion but the direction of story. You can have shitty lore of weak champion and godlike lore of godlike champion. It's all about narrating.
