What Varus' new lore tells us about the Darkin.

Hey all. in light of Varus's new lore I wanted to talk about the things that we have learned about the darkin.

For starters we now know that the Darkin have some fleshshifting ability, not just the common ability to corrupt and transform it, but mold it like clay. Rhaast's quote about Kayn "wasting" (t)his flesh implies that the Darkin can use biomatter on a whim and even implies that they really "are" the weapon and whatever body they have is just the host transformed in their own image.

Another aspect is will. Kayn is able to keep himself human but half corrupted while Varus is the opposite, a darkin dominant hybrid that is hindered by the flesh of the couple he used to remake himself. We know that a strong human based Darkin hybrid like Kayn can control his darkin weapon and even purge and kill it to take it's power while Darkin based Hybrid's are more or less screwed as they can only hinder, not control their body as we see with Varus. Rhaast and especially Aatrox is a key example on what happens when the human host is consumed by the darkin.

Lastly, A Darkin can also gain the experiences and skills of their hosts as Rhaast could now use some of kayns abilities and Varus has the combined provers of Valmar and Kai.

One of the things I picked up on is that the Void is actualy a planet that was destroyed that the Targonians were at war with a long time ago. That the Dark Kin as he called them are the last remnants and they might actually be morally righteous, considering his comments on human evil. The reason the Void is a weird battlezone is because they threw everything they had at trying to defend their homeworld, and something the Targonians did bound it to Runeterra in some way, but they didn't manage to kill all of the Dark Kin. The Targonians are an unscrupulous star dragon-enslaving abomination who possess random little girls and gullible tribals alike. Makes me think their didn't acquire their empire honestly.

If that's true then what a lot of people suspected - that the Targonians are actually evil incarnate, might be true...that they genocided an entire planet. Think about that.

I look forward to what comes next anyways and that's always a good thing.

The Darkin came from another world. But where?

I'm not REALLY sure that they invaded from the Void. But it's not IMPOSSIBLE for there to be a connection. The Darkin War might have preceded the Void invasion , or even happened simultaneously.

Remember we are told that the Void creatures are living WEAPONS, and that the realm is dark and filled with mountaines flesh forges and magical weapon looms weaving flesh together. It was created to support a forgotten war, long ago.

What if the ORIGINAL Darkin created the Void?

And then both invaded at once?

Also recall that it was WILD MAGIC use that DREW the Darkin to Runeterra. These could have happened on the heels of the Runewars. The Void doesnt seem concerned with magic, but the Darkin Varus claims to be.
