Draven's new lore is a downgrade in my opion

"In Noxus, warriors known as reckoners face one another in arenas where blood is spilled and strength tested—but none has ever been as celebrated as Draven. A former soldier, he found that the crowds uniquely appreciated his flair for the dramatic, not to mention the spray of blood from each of his spinning axes. Addicted to the spectacle of his own brash perfection, Draven has sworn to defeat whomever he must to ensure that his name is chanted throughout the empire forever more."

I know this is short bio but it implies some worrying things:

  1. Draven never deserted the army while giving them the middle finger. He just left? Just like that? Was he discharged? In the question and answer section for Draven when he came out they stated that Draven left because he wanted to and he felt that the army was destroying his individuality or "Draven-ness". He did not like the army nor was he respected there. Because of the fact that he left on his own accord, his reputation in Noxus was down the gutter and the only job that was available to him at that time was to become a low executioner, even though he would have made a fine gladiator he couldn't. A job that there was no glory, no crowds and you just chopped people's heads off and be done with it. Draven on his own revolutionized on what it meant to be an executioner and became the first of his kind. The new lore takes down his badassness by a ton. Also, because I fear that he left the army on good will..

  2. Before anyone says this new lore is less cruel because he fights warriors instead of prisoners and that makes Draven more morally gray, no it really isn't. Reckoners seem to fight each other for no other reason than to see who is stronger and it implies that it results in death... Draven was murdering prisoners before, this could have been spun that he was killing criminals and traitors to the empire which is way more morally gray than killing fellow non-criminal Noxians...

  3. Old lore: He decided that the glorious exploits of Draven should be put on display for the entire WORLD. New lore: throughout the EMPIRE forever more. Old lore Draven was aiming for the world and not just within Noxus.

In conclusion, I do think that this new lore is a downgrade unless his longer biography explains some things.

Frankly, the way I see it the Draven changes are nuanced details. While some stuff like the how and why he left the military are left out, he has generally stayed the same. I don't see it as a downgrade unless you are super attached to the character, while personally I don't like the champ, his lore, or the hyped love he gets.

If you want to talk about butchered lore, Aatrox and the Darkin having a lot of their mystique stripped away, or Volibear being changed from a warrior shaman to a raging warmonger demigod are examples of Riot ruining their lore.

Lets be honest, looking at the size of Noxus, it IS literally the whole world.

So is gladiator draven base draven now?

1.When was it ever said that he deserted? In fact I'm pretty sure that Draven would have been killed if he had deserted.

2.Well who says that he didn't start as an executioner?Keep in mind that these short intros cut out a lot of important stuff(for example C isn't mentioned in Caitlyns lore and Pixs origins are never mentioned in Lulus). And tbh,it would make sense that Draven executes victims in the arena as well,I mean thats pretty much like the romans who threw prisoners into the arena to die.

3.Old Draven had the possibility to get an audience across the globe,as the league essentially broadcasted the matches to the other nations, thats not possible in the new lore(in general information about the world is a lot more scarce within the new lore)

I doubt that Draven is just a glorified gladiator now. Urgot specifically refer's to Draven as his "replacement". Perhaps he began as a gladiator, but became Noxus''s executoner when Swain took control.
