Riot please don’t turn Jarvan IV into a jerk

Remember how some fans called Jayce a Mary Sue and that he suffers from Superman syndrome? Look at what happened to Jayce he took a 180 degree shift in personality and even though I love new Jayce I am scared Riot might do this to Jarvan in the future when Jarvan doesn’t need it like Jayce. Because Jarvan as a Prince with a long history can be allowed to grow in many ways.

A lot of people think Jarvan IV is a Mary Sue it seems and that the only way he could be interesting is if he was anti hero or edgy. If he gets off on on beating down on Noxians like how Batman gets off on dispensing justice....Kayn’s story featured and wrote Jarvan so well WHILE not turning him into an asshole. This shows that Jarvan is interesting on his own when bring to light Jarvan’s own ideology vs long term tradition. His struggles can be interesting in their own right while not being a mental health problem like Batman or Tony Stark...

The reason why Jayce was turned into a jerk is because that was honestly the most common perception of the character.

And tbh,looking at the lore between J4 and Shyvana I'd say that J4 will likely not be a jerk,considering that he went so far to risk his life,fighting a dragon to save Shyvana and even gave her a place in his elite guard,knowing that this might cause problems for him later on.

Why would you think they would do that. His whole character arc is about humility...

Hot head prince goes off on his own looking for glory gets captured, escapes capture, decides he isn't worthy to return to Demacia and take the throne and puts himself through a self-imposed exile, Meets a dragon and make her his closest friend breaking years of tradition and then finally coming back to Demacia not because he believes he is worthy but because his new outlook can change it for the better.

I don't see how Riot could get away with making him a "jerk"

He approaches the Great Hall reeking of arrogance. He, like his father, struts as though others should feel privileged to behold him. His armor is flashy and impractical, adorned with bits of slain beasts, a braggart without uttering a word. He has the jutting countenance of all the Lightshield dogs, men better built to wield clubs than authority. He is spoiled, haughty, and altogether undeserving of the respect laid at his feet.

There was also that time Jarvan mocked Swain’s handicapped leg. I know this is old lore but come on it wouldn’t be that bad. Jarvan in JoJ was not a jerk or hated Noxians to the point of obsession [he trusted Katarina + Talon despite hating Noxus] he was just arrogant and hotheaded sometimes which was more character than he has now.

It makes sense for th Prince of Demacia to be kind of arrogant, right? Imagine growing up with such luxuries and being told how great your blood is.

Well, I mean Demacia is now essentially a fascist dystopia to anyone who has magical ability.

So I can't imagine it's royal family is terribly nice to people they see as different.

Jarvan is, for all intents and purposes, a ruler. Expect something a little more along the lines of God-King Garen when he gets a new VO, but with less of the god part and a slightly smaller ego.

He is a demacian king. Demacians are jerks by nature. Shurima and Noxus are the best factions fight me

I see j4 as more of a leader sort of character. His personality, lore, voice lines, and parts of his kit reflect this. He's been raised to be a leader, and it's obvious he's not spoiled or anything because of the compassion he's shown others, and his self-judgement. He's definitely not a jerk, and I think they should build his character to demonstrate that he is a great leader who will make a great king.
