I checked their lore and it never said anything about it, so is it a lie or is it one of those extra lore stories?

It comes from the old lore, where in order to get IoW recognition as a nation Ashe and Tryndamere got married politically to unite their peoples and call it the Freljord.

It's part of the old lore, but the core of the old lore got retconned. Now Riot is picking which parts of the old lore they want to keep in their new lore.

Might be that they keep this marriage, might not be.

It was said like a year ago (after the Shurima Event or the Freljord one) by Ironstylus if i remember coreclty, in this board... im not going to look for the source because it would take me hours. You can search it by yourself.

A person asked after the removal of the league and the lore change of Tryndamere, since he had no "tribe" anymore (Aatrox Killed them), a political marriage would make no sense... but he still the Barbarian King, the King of the Avarosans.

plus the skins King Tryndamere and Queen Ashe and their titles "King and Queen of the Freljord" imply they are both leaders of the Freljord, so that's where the "married" rumor came from

No rumor at all. It was clearly stated in the Journal of Justice (which is no longer considered canon, so this could now be debatable) that Ashe and Trynda married each-other due to political reason. We don't have much clue if their relationship has changed in the new lore since then, perhaps or perhaps not. No lore seems to make notice of that right now.

I've heard that Tryndamere's looks are based off of the creator of Riot, and Ashe is based off of his wife. I don't know if this is true, but I assume the champions are married based off of this.

The JoJ listed it, but it's technically not canon anymore. However, that is detail that seems pretty simple to leave, as the Frejlord doesn't have basically anything to do with the rest of Runeterra or the LoL, the main sources of the retcon.
