So how will the lore actually progress?

Reading some of the lore the other day, I noticed some of these characters have clear goals in mind

Yorick wants to punish the Ruined King and reverse the ruination of the Shadow Isles Lucian wants to save Senna (At the end of Shadow and Fortune he actually got some hope of saving her) Nasus wants to redeem Renekton and stop Xerath Azir wants to resurrect his empire Taliyah wants to prevent that

Contrast this with the in-game dialogue with Lucian wanting to save Senna, and Yorick wanting to save the Shadow Isles.

But suppose that Lucian actually manages to save Senna, or Azir actually succeeds in reviving his empire, wouldn't that make their in-game voice-overs kinda moot? Especially if Gangplank one day manages to take back Bilgewater. I imagine it must be a painful effort for the Riot staff to make in-game changes to reflect the lore. They did that one time in Burning Tides, but I can't imagine Riot doing that for over 130 characters.

So will the LOL lore status always stay the same? Or will it just remain the same? I really love the LOL lore, but I'm kinda wondering if it has the same potential to evolve like in other mediums such as comics or movie

Ok, first of all... you probably MISSED the LoL lore worth caring about. The Journal of Justice was solid, if often goofy... and was telling a pretty sweet story about a Noxus civil war and Swain's rise to power there. I'm sure the new lore will get to that plotline SOMEday.

But the question you're asking is "what happens when the lore renders the in-game dialogue dated?". Nothing. Nothing happens. Not only is it highly unlikely that they ever really RESOLVE any of these dangling threads to a satisfying degree... but you realize that the game's "lore" doesn't actually include the game anymore, right?

I mean every match you play has NO place in the lore. It used to... if VERY loosely. But the new lore removed the game itself from it's own lore. Why would they need to change Lucian's lines if they run lore where he saves his wife? Nothing in the matches is canon at all or fits in the lore. BEST CASE you could hope for is they'll have something minor happen during an event that doesn't affect the setting overall or remove a character from it... and they'll make a new skin to reflect it happening. Like a "redeemed" Lucian or something. Then they'll sell it to you.... probably for 1850 RP.

From how I get it, Yorick does not really want to revert the Isles. He wants to bury them, like, in his eyes, when his Task is done, the Isles are nothing but dead rock. No Magic, neither holy and sacred nor dark and twisted. Maokai on the other Hand seeks to restore the Isles former Beauty.

I hope we get more progression, but some champions are doomed to monotony like Kindred, Tahm Kench and Bard who serve one purpose only and will have almost no interaction with other characters.
