Is it just me or does anyone else feel like Kayn is an anime Mary Sue

A Noxian orphan that became a master ninja by the time he was (presumably) into his teens. A young boy who has mastered every weapon and now intends to overthrow Zed. I mean, looking at his bio, I can't help but feel like he is a Mary Sue. He can pretty much do anything. He feels like something from a fan fiction.

His short story was also more or less violence porn, just him killing Noxian soldiers and getting the scythe.

I guess Riot sooner or later had to make a champ that appeals to the weaboos. But I do hope very much that this won't become a trend and that Riot continues to make original and creative champs. I personally hope that Riot focuses more on making VGUs since I think we have enough champs. The roster is getting saturated. But if you're gonna keep spamming out new champs, I hope at least not all of them will be anime mary sues

A character either you don't like, find them badly written and whatnot, or that the character is in your opinion not creative or original, they must be an anime character catered to "weaboos".

Fair and unbiased judgement?

I'll call him a Mary Sue when Ahri, Miss Fortune and Xayah fall into his lap. (maybe with Rakan)

Mary Sues are not Mary Sues because of how powerful they are; if that were the case every champion in the game would be a Mary Sue (except Aatrox, because he's Aatrox). Mary Sues are Mary Sues because of how the story bends around them to accomodate their actions and desires.

(The original Mary Sue has both Captain Kirk and Spock eager to bang her within the first paragraph of her story. And gets to sit in the captain's chair, as "the youngest lieutenant in Starfleet).

While he does have Sasuke's stupid chicken butt hair style and was abandoned as a child soldier, Kayn's not that strong of a force in the story. Zed clearly sent him to die picking up this scythe and did not intend for him to return, hence the line in his backstory about "why he'd been picked for this assignment" and the secret back-up that came along with him. In his lines, it also implies that Kayn deeply respects Zed and sees him as a father figure, meaning that if Kayn does kill Zed it's not going to be a happy moment.

As for appealing to weeaboos... Yasuo

Sooner or later? Half the roster appeals to weebs in some way lmao.

Also, Kayn had a shit life, I'd say he deserves to be edgy lol.

Well, by the time he was a teenager he probably mastered all the weapons. He is barely out of his teens.

I mean, compare that to Garen. Imagine if Garen mastered the use of Nunchakus, scythes, bo staff, axe etc, by the time he was barely out of puberty. The impression I get about Garen is that he spent many years honing his skills with his sword.

I just get a lot of Mary Sue vibes from reading Kayn's lore

Zed has become a punchbag for everyone lol, at this point noone would be scared of him

He wants to succeed Zed as the Master of the Order of the Shadows by harnessing the power of the Darkin scythe. Yes, the star student pupil aiming to succeed his master is a stereotype, but how many of those characters are in possession of a scythe with the potential to bring about the apocalypse, with a wall of lore history unknown to the community. To add onto that we already know the outcome of his story, he either becomes a shadow assassin or is taken over by Rhaast, but which is going to happen, how is it going to happen, when will it happen, so yes he is a sterotype but he isn't just your typical anime mary sue.

... They're called champions, they are the absolute Pinnacle of strength during their time. By definition compared to normal people, they'd be "Mary Sue"

When the stupid play a again with almost all anime type characters then call people weaboos. the irony.
