Vlad don't suck blood, he absorbs it, by his skin and his body, he's a blood mage, he don't need to feed on blood, he's powers made him immortal but he was human, I don't consider him as a vampire and he's not.

Technically he does suck up others blood, but not like a vampire. He sorta just draws it out of their body, instead of shoving sharp fangs (ones he doesn't have) into someone's neck.

He's a hemomage. He's more like a bloodbender from Avatar. He just wills the blood out of people. No physical contact involved.

I actually don't even understand how it heals him cuz I'm pretty sure just overloading your body with excess blood should kill you cuz he's just a human.

Because Vlad doesn't really have a stand-out visual aesthetic? And it's cute. It changes the primary association of the picture from 'some white haired dude in a red coat" to 'ow, thats Vlad".
