I don't want a weapon wielder, I want a fighter. Like a skirmisher. Lee sin would fit, but his kit isn't what I want. I want a melee champion who can fly. I want someone who feels like a martial artist and not someone who slaps the ground. Like have you ever played tekeen or a capcom vs game or even the new Dragon ball figherz game? that is what I want mechanically from a martial artist champion.

I was mostly joking that the character of Goku is literally based off of Wukong, from Journey to the West (though they went far away from the story there)

But, I can see what you mean. Even if I really wouldn't be interested in that champion. I also have characters I would love to see in the game that just aren't.

I do not... and I am massively disappointed with this champ. I know NONE of you at Riot care, because the crowd that sucks down anime edgelord shit is huge and you're pandering your ass off to them.... but I'm not gonna play this guy. Instead of some cool gothic reaper or a Bloodborne/Darkest Dungeon style champion we got a leering anime pretty boy. Again. You could not have killed my desire to play this character more.

There is something to be said of watching something you love take steps further and further away from what you like about it, and instead pandering to the majority. It can be painful, and annoying. And people will lash out under those circumstances. Hell I know I do whenever the direction for the new Pantheon comes up.

I'm not throwing a fit? I honestly don't really care if there are anime influences in the game or not. I mean, I don't particularly find them interesting. But then I don't find most of the champions interesting, that's why I play very few of them. You're the one who decided it was best to shout your opinions in all caps and exaggerations.

But, if you want Weeb influences champions, well, just going off of the recent releases you got the new guy, the current law/chaos skins, Yasuo in general, God Lee Sin, and the Star Guardian Line.

When was the last time they released a historical champion, or skin?

Don't bother Warlord... people like him are half the problem. Screaming you down if you don't care for the things they like. The anime aesthetic is everywhere in league... but this guy likes it, so he doesn't care if anyone else doesn't.

Lux is a magical girl. LITERALLY in one of her skins.

The entire academy skin line is anime as fuck.

Every single champ from Ionia.

Bard is straight out of a Studio Ghibli production.

Jhin is Ionian. Why? He's an artist and a serial killer... could have been from ANYWHERE. But they just had to make the mofo Ionian and have his rivals be the freakin' ninjas. Cause when I think mass-murderering psycho with a gun and a mask, I think of ninjas.

Ahri... and thanks to the new lore making the vastaya exist (In Ionia, of course) every single vastayan champ are now animal-spirit things straight out of asian mythology.

Syndra. Ionian. Her theme is "unlimited power corrupts" basically... but she had to be Ionian. Why?

Aurelion Sol? Definitely a chinese-style serpent dragon. His concept was originally MORE SO when he was named Ao Shin and he was a storm dragon.

Riven. Not actually from Ionia, but still super-weeb bait... heavily tied to Yasuo in her lore. Assaulted Ionia and is still emo about it.

Taliya. Fluffed as egyptian-inspired but she is LITERALLY a character out of Avatar: the last airbender... which is an anime (I don't care if it's not made it japan. It's a freaking anime.) and 110% about asian cultures too. I loved that show... but it doesn't mean Taliya is a historical or western-themed character.

Ezreal is basically the main character of an anime as well. Give him black hair and he's every light novel protagonist you've ever seen.

It goes on and on. And I'm not even saying asian or anime influences are BAD. I've liked a few animes. But I am god-damned entitled to dislike something too, and this fucking edgelord could have been a TON of other, better things if the need to spill anime all over everything wasn't a thing. Demacia is facist and super traditional (nevermind that several champions were accepted by Demacia despite their odd origins and they USED to be more tolerant... Xin, Sona, Alistar, etc)... we gotta make things more grey. Noxus is the obligatory evil nation. Bilgewater is brutal anarchy. but Ionia is a spiritual land of people who are better than you... with one or two bad eggs kinda half-mentioned. Ionia is also the leading exporter of obnoxious resourceless AD jackoffs that drive everyone insane with their mobility and overloaded kits.

Yasuo has gotten around what? Four new skins since release? Five? Zac? None. Illaoi. None. Tahm Kench? None. The bias is obvious and it's not even personal. They're printing what sells... and the weeb crowd is HUGE.

But god damn it, I am still allowed to be annoyed that they wasted the "badass fighter with a scythe" thing on some anime douchebag from freaking bleach... because they will NEVER make another badass fighter with a scythe! So now if I want to play that archetype, I gotta play the obnoxious fuckin' edgelord. And another cool idea is sucked into the void of generic anime garbage to appeal to the crowd.

Ionia as I see it is can be described as the wildlands, or basically a neutral area that is still un-developed (at least to the degree of tech as of the moment in lore e.g. Demacia)

When I think of Scythes... do you know what I think of? The grim fucking reaper. Dark, gothic horror. Maybe a farm (y'know... where they actually USED scythes) or a scarecrow theme.

He's a nobleman from Noxus who is frustrated that Noxus has taken a stomping recently (they always get played as the token bad guys in league vids and thus, usually lose). They lost against Ionia (because of course Ionia was the poor victim dontchaknow) and they're struggling against Demacia... yadda yadda. So he does his research about shit and hears about an ancient artifact of immense power that lies in the Shadow Isles. You know... the kind of place a "death-themed weapon" might feel right? He ventures there secretly against his better judgement and loses his entire force along the way fighting off the various horrors of the shadow isles... slow and stubbornly attempting to make his way to the damned thing. Refusing to turn back and make it all a waste of time. Only his most loyal right hand man remains by his side... a loyal soldier and servant he's known for most of his life. The rest of his soldiers attempt to mutiny and desert him because they think he's mad. Only the warning and support of his loyal man saves him and they're forced to kill the rest of his soldiers to save themselves.

Injured, almost alone and half-mad... the two men stumble into a cave that is supposed to contain the great power he's sought and bled and murdered his own soldiers for.... only to find it empty. As he wails and slams his fists against the stone and his servant tries to calm him down, he hears a voice. It tells him that the power can be his if he offers it a price. A single life, sacrificed on the cave floor. He seems to calm down, and as his man is distracted trying to think of how they might be able to escape the place and make it back home, he lunges in and strangles the only man that stood by him to death with his bare hands. The servant doesn't even fight back as shocked as he is with the betrayal. The scythe appears and the voice in his head laughs wickedly, mocking him. "If you were truly a man of conviction, you would have offered your own life! Be rewarded as a coward deserves!" Then he is possessed by the force he fed the entire way here... death. The Scythe.

Bam! A more interesting character idea than the edgy freakin weeblord. Dark and doomed by his own stubbornness to push on at the cost of his people's lives. Hell, he could be from ANYWHERE and have that same backstory. A guy who disregards the lives of others in pursuit of power, then regrets it when it consumes him. He'd even still be pretty edgy, what with lines like "This isn't what I wanted!" or the demon's voice mocking him for his weakness. Gothic horror is still pretty dark and even edgy... kinda. It's about tormented characters and bleak shit... humanity failing or acting on horrible impulses and biases. People cursed for their own failings or awful acts. But it would be something more interesting than some shirtless pretty boy being an arrogant dick to everyone while showing off his mad anime skillz.

I don't really know how to explain it. New Sion was a good example of what I'm talking about tho. He was a horrible murderous brute and now he's an undead monster... but he has moments of "what am I?" where he dimly realizes he's basically a slave and a monster. He was rewarded for being a butcher and a juggernaut by... not being allowed to rest peacefully after his death. He's a liiiitle tragic.. even if he is an irredeemable monster. No one could argue he didn't deserve it a little, but being trapped in an eternal hell of undeath by others who only need a beast of war? THAT is gothic horror. That's the kind of shit I was hoping for when they finally made a champion with a scythe.

Instead I got some generic arrogant bishonen from bleach. Pardon me if I'm not thrilled over it.

I still feel stupid since I really don't understand the whole subclass anyway. But tbh, I'm a support and classic mage main - so probably won't have any interest at learning him since he probably won't fit my playstyle at all. And I'm incredible picky about my champion, I mean I have only 17 champion with mastery points at all and 6 of them with at Mastery Level 7. So yeah, still probably won't play him.

Support Mains ftw! Jep, pretty much the same. 6 of 5 are supporter (Nami, Janna, Leona, Braum & Rakan) and only one mage (my beloved Syndra). I don't see any reason to change it, however I actually thinking about expand my support pool (currently thinking about picking Thresh, Soraka & Sona up as well).

They just released TWO champions that are fairy people who are constantly gushing lovey dovey awkwardness all over each other in a video game. One champion is edgy and its pushing you away lol. I don't think it's so much about the edgyness, even though it's a factor and over 9000 with this guy. I believe it's more about the fact that he gives a vybe of being quite generic and cliché in a way, and if you watch even a bit of anime you will notice these easily. He is way to much fanservice for my taste (pls don't bring up big titties champs as other fanservice examples( like Ahri and MissFortune ). Do i like boobs? Yes. Do I think its too much? Yes. Okay, you may not bring it up but someone will and i want it out of the way. Done). He appeals to a certain demographic too much as if Riot was pointing the finger saying " You, YES YOU , forget about your Riven s and Yasuo s, this is your next main." It feels like he is the next moneymaker/precious champion for Riot the same way Yasuo Riven Ahri and a few others are/were.

This may come as overly agressive and I'm sorry but it's just the only way i find to say these things and reading it again i realize that some might interpret this as agressive, I just want to say that this is not my inent at all.

Really the freaking scythe sells it the most. Scythes are terrible weapons with how they are shaped. To use them in battle, peasants would angle the blade upward for more of a cleaving cut.
