It makes me wonder if voidborn creatures like are truly... voidborn. What if they originated from another planet or dimension and were later consumed and transfromed by the Void, just like and ?

I'd imagine it's because the Voidborn have a very negative and violent reaction to Runeterra, as their bodies are forced to rapidly change in order to handle the planet's atmosphere. The reason they're even purple skinned to begin with is because of this change. So if the mere atmosphere sparked such rapid and drastic change, then the magical, restorative waters found in that sacred pool or the Oasis of the Dawn would probably force even greater changes upon them.

So, are you suggesting that the ability to adapt to the enviroment is a common characteristic of the voidborn creatures that isn't shared by void-corrupted beings, thus implying they are substantially different on a physiological level?

I don't think it means that adaptation itself is a trait common to all Voidborn, otherwise Kha'Zix's unique physiology would be redundant. Voidborn adapt because their base form is tailored to existence within The Void, and Runeterra's environment is so wildly different that if they did not change they would not survive. This is mirrored with Runeterra's native inhabitants; contact with The Void is lethal unless the subject undergoes mutation, such as the Scuttle crab or Kassadin.

Think of it like Anti-matter and matter colliding, but with much less volatile results. The only way these two states can coexist is by taking on the other's properties.

Anyway, this is actually an interesting theory. Maybe the Void is just a normal place that then underwent a cataclysm similar to the Ruination, and now the "Void Mist" is sentient and trying to invade Runeterra, just as the Black Mist tries to conquer everything.

Based on AurelionSol story, there is a creature in the void that is strong enough to open a rift between dimensions, I'm pretty sure if anything is trying to invade Runneterra it would be that guy.

The thing is, it's possible that the guy opening rifts and leading the invasion is the Void itself. Cuz' apparently the Void is confirmed as being alive now. So maybe it's like, the Ruination happened in another dimension, creating this "Void Mist." The "Void Mist" eventually became so massive that it gained sentience (like the Maiden). It was then somehow removed from it's dimension, but it was so powerful that it was able to become a place, it's own pocket dimension. And now it invades other dimensions, because domination seems to be in the Mist's nature.

"Apparently the Void is living, so it could be corrupted by the Ruination as well" This comment is a little too confusing to my taste specially because it was an answer to someone asking if the voidlings had souls and if they could be possessed, for all we know he could saying that those guys are alive the same way the others in runneterra are also alive, it doesn't necessarily means the place in where they originate from is a big living thing, it could, but I don't think we should be saying it has been confirmed just yet.
