Her new lore really doesn't do her old personality justice. Wasn't she supposed to dislike killing? So why rewrite her to be so willing to strike Diana down and remain a willing puppet of a clearly-corrupt Solari order?

Was the old "goody two-shoes" Leona considered impossible to work with? I mean, look at how she took those raiders out. Not even one word of "Surrender and I'll let you live"?

Somehow I knew Riot would screw up something with the Mount Targon lore, and it just HAD to be my favorite Solari.

Personally, I like this better.

You can't be raised in a society like the Rakkoran one if you aren't at least indifferent to death.

But can't she at least be the type who gives her enemies the chance to flee or surrender?

I don't like her being "kill first, don't ask questions ever".

Well she did let one go free. And her story stated that the invaders would just attack again if they left survivors.

Yet if she didn't care and still would give them the chance to flee with their lives, wouldn't that give her strong character?

Obviously she would have limits to her mercy, but she wouldn't just kill an attacker without first trying to disarm them or at least she might go for a limb and render them unable to fight anymore. Cutting off someone's arm does not necessarily kill them, but they sure as heck won't be picking up a sword again.

And before you say "they could get a Hextech arm", I don't think Mount Targon is anywhere near Piltover or Zaun, so access to such prosthetics would be pretty remote.

I don't think she is as bad as you think.

She is definetly darker than before,"trying to hunt down the heretic" and "growing angrier with every word of diana" and so on,however she is not a blind zealot.

Panths lore describes how she is rather passive,not wanting to hunt down enemies. In her own lore she spared the golden boy,got nearly killed for it and while she was trying to hunt down diana at first,she now might have realized that she was in the wrong here. The fact that she has something rather undoubtly evil inside her is interesting,but she doesn't get controlled by it.

Did you not read the part about being ousted by her own people for helping the golden skinned boy?

She's still compassionate as an individual, but there's more too her than that.

I answered to Ant's comment in your own thread, so go there for the long version. But the short one is: I don't find that the story of the golden boy makes a good job of presenting Leona as a "nice person".

This. Leona's annihilation of the raiders pretty much makes her look ruthless by comparison.

I don't agree with you.

Those raiders killed her own defenseless people. They showed no mercy and intended to keep harming the Solari and the Rakkors. Leona did what a protector should have done: eradicate the threat. It's even specified in the lore that those villains were warriors and that they would have come back for revenge. Even though her emotions were influenced by the spirit inside her body, that had already judged those raiders unworthy to live, her actions were guided by a rational mind that was thinking for the best of her tribes.

On top of that, Leona's new lore fits her gameplay even better, because she's more an offensive-oriented support, rather than a defensive-oriented one like Braum.

I think Leona developed her protector personality after she infused with the sun.

When the barbarians invaded, the being inside her wanted nothing more than to kill them all, but she held it down, wanting instead to hold position. Same in Pantheons lore, instead of pursuing them, she elected to stay a defend the villages from attack.

Yes she wanted to pursue Diana to the ends of the earth to kill her, but now it sounds as if she is tracking her to desperately tell her something. The other half of ancient lore that Diana knows she is missing maybe?
