@Riot art team, art update problem

So I can see you are working really hard with updating the overall splash quality lately and bringing is to the similar style/quality standards. This will definitely result in more visually coherent game and loading screens BUT as much as I appreciate base splash updates I can't help but noticing one big problem.

Old skin splashes. There are a LOT of skin splashes that have incredibly low quality and I do not expect you to actually update them because that would require incredible amounts of work but It kind of defeats the purpose of all this splash work you have done so far.

However on the other hand skins are supposed to offer at least similar or better experience visual wise to someone who purchased it.

Imagine a loading screen where everyone has this great art but then there is a person with warrior princess Sivir or french maid Nidalee, Sun goddess Karma, Exiled Morgana or some legacy skins that still have the oldest possible art that is basically champion model with some touch ups. It looks like that person is playing a different game and creates this jarring disparity in visual design.

I am personally just wondering what your stance on this is, if you have any plans to take this problem on and how? As I mentioned I don't really expect you to due to the amount of work it would require but still...

Shyv doesnt have broken anatomy. Her hips are slightly tilted because it is mid-stride. You are just looking for some mundane excuse to gripe.

I think they said that they are going to update the outdated base splash updates first and that then the skins will follow.

I believe they do intend to update all splashes, even old and retired ones, just as they intend to texture update, model update, or redesign every champion. The main default skin splashes are just coming first because they are generally what players see the most.

Quality in art is subjective. Many of the new splashes are not better in quality as compared to some of the old splashes. It's just a style change, and detailing like they're doing now doesn't always reflect the quality of something artistic. Let's take the Shyvana one for example. The previous one was highly detailed and very well done(On par with the new Debonair Vi splash), featuring her dragon form in the backdrop, it clearly reflects the character in game and characterizes her very well, the new one by comparison is missing her dragon form, the appearance no longer matches the character, and there's broken anatomy, the only "better quality" detail is that she has this odd skin detailing.

This essentially gives her a reptilian look while not explaining it, this is made ever more evident as her championship splash DOES feature her dragon form, has non reptilian skin detailing, and the armor appearance is closer to that of the in game model.

The problem is inconsistency. If 2 brand new splash arts for the same character come out within a few months of one another and look entirely 2 different styles and consistency of quality, what is there to ask of Riot on updating skin splash arts?

If you look at the old Shyvana splash, and the brand new Azir classic splash, they have the same consistency with detailing and quality, yet the new Shyvana classic splash looks entirely different. Should they update the new Azir splash too?

Riot has a major problem with inconsistency and it looks like they're not going to change anything about it.

I don't understand why it matters. The game isn't about the art. I want better ingame models because that's what you spend a majority of your gameplay staring at.

I don't even look at the loading screen anymore.

I really hope they eventually get to updating the skin splash art too. When you have a skin and the "quality" isn't up to date it kind of makes me not want to use the skin. For example I was mystery gifted a skin and got the "Stinger Akali" skin. I don't usually use akali and when I do use her I get her in aram. Well the point is that I would rather use the base skin because the splash is so much cooler. This might seem silly but the stinger akali skin itself isn't much of a change so maybe that is why it is a little bit more justifiable. This is not to say that I don't use the skin, instead I just alternate between. I feel like it would be nice to update the skin splash arts because I mean people did pay for these skins (excluding the victorious skins and ones you got codes for- which they still equally deserve "quality" splash).

I have seen people say that the old splashes are still good, which this is true. But I think they should keep updating the splashes just to stay consistent, and just like someone else has done- if you really don't like it perhaps you can mod the old ones in?

Art will always be a difficult discussion because we all have different tastes and find different things aesthetically pleasing. I don't like all of the updates but I do like most. The updates I might not like I still appreciate what Riot is trying to do.

I actually really like the new full splash's, what gets me is them cutting their faces straight out of the image for their profiles, a lot of them look ugly to me, especially ahri and Janna's, even though I love both of their full splashes
