I feel like there's some to like about the older champions thematically

Today, I doubt we'd get someone thematically like Jax or Corki in the League

I think he meant old champions were more silly with their themes.

Jax is some hooded guy beating up people with a lamppost

Corki is an old yordle guy who sits in a tiny hovering plane thing.

Nowadays champions are more....serious. The silliest one we'd had in a while is Tahm Kench but he's still a River Demon thing so it makes sense for him to be some macabre combination of catfish and frog.

But then again we've got the poppy rework,where poppy basically went from "serious yordle with tragic backstory" to "upbeat yordle who doesn't realize she is a hero"

I agree that the lore did become more serious,but in the end they are still ok with having some silly champs here and there.Its just that this sillyness isn't the only thing that defines these champs anymore and that the darker aspects of these silly champs are also taken into account(for example jinx is also a rather fun champ,but it is made clear that she is also a dangerous psychopath,unlike mundo who is so funny that it is easy to forget that he is actually a sadistic serial killer)

Jax and Corki for example don't have much background(Jax is really just a mystery dude) or character(honestly corki has nothing that really defines his character).
