Edit: Apparently fixed. (or I somehow overlooked it in the first place) Lore reads that Jarvin IV offered her a place in his elite guard and she now serves as a Demacian warrior. Not sure if that means she turned him down or being a member of the elite guard is the same thing as being in the military.

Yea, demacia has no shortage of people who can protect the king with out accidentally killing him.
I'm not sure if this is an actual loss of a position, or just a generification of her lore.
It's entirely possible she occupies a specialist position in Demacia's hierarchy, considering she is both an outsider and a half-breed. I suspect Jarvan has her as attachment of the royal guard, something he has personal oversight of, but that doesn't necessarily mean she's 'properly apart of it'. Hyper military societies like Demacia are very stingy about protocol and form, so there is probably only so much he can do to get her integrated.
Because entrusting a stranger with the protection of the royal heir, even if he vouches for her, is not entirely reasonable. Also, Shyvana is a half-dragon with anger issues, keeping her around the nobility is begging for trouble.
Uhm I dunno what you read,but I just checked her lore and it still talks about how Jarvan offered her a job as part of his elite-guard and it was always the elite guard in all versions of her lore.
And apparently she is friends with Galio...? Makes sense, but a curiosity nonetheless.
