So Riot...you will only create a new map if it's beneficial to a skinline?

Not for creativity, and showing some of the world of Runeterra?

You seem to have forgotten about the Butcher’s Bridge and the Bilgewater event.

~~Beneficial to a skinline? No map has ever been released with a skin line. Like ever. ~~

Maps will probably always be used to show more of Runeterra in a way that reveals stuff about not only geography, but culture and narrative about the people who made/use the map.

Forget me I fucked this sorry Genocider.

Yeah they should bring back Butcher's Bridge and make it permanent but they already stated that they wouldn't because you know...the games focus is only on "Summoners Rift" and they don't like variety or want to steer people away from that. rolls eyes

We need more maps period. Just different takes on summoner's rift or at least different maps for different gametypes.

So far we have Shurima (Technically, at this point), Freljord, the Shadow Isles and that one never seen again Bilgewater ARAM map. Possible new locations could be Ionia, Piltover/Zaun, Noxus, Demacia, and Mount Targon.

A map set inside a city would be awesome, with the jungle being the dark alleys and back streets. Maybe in Piltover/Zaun with the blue side being Piltover and the red side being Zaun? Perhaps with a none overlapping vertical aspect to it?

The problem with creating new maps, and they've been over this on many occasions before, is that it takes a hell of a lot of work. As recently as May of last year Riot put out an article where said that they didn't even think that a project like remaking the Snowdown version of Summoners Rift could be justified against the sheer amount of time and investment of resources it would take them to put together, and that map skin only got made at all because they found a shortcut that allowed them to put it together in a matter of weeks rather than "the better part of a year." Making a new map is a huge investment that takes up the focus of art and development teams that could otherwise be working on any number of other projects. It's not just something they can do casually for the sake of it.
