Did the failed ascension ritual allow the Xer'sai into runeterra more specifically Shurima.

Not the most mind blowing theory but I do think the failed ascension ritual allow the Xer'sai into Shurima. We know Azir does not know the existence of the Xer'sai so we can infer that The Xer'sai invaded Shurima after its downfall and destruction because the failed ritual. But why do I think specifically the failed ritual allowed the Xer'sai in and not some other random occurrence.

  Well its hard to open the gap between universes know as the void that would most likely need a lot of energy  what happened at the failed ascension ritual it cause a huge outburst of energy killing almost everything in its path. Would this be enough energy to weaken the threshold between worlds I think it would. 

  My other evidence Taunts specifically to Rek'sai no other void borns from Illaoi "Ugly thing. You weren't designed by gods you were made by fools." Why is this important well it becomes more obvious what she thinks of ascendants "You wanted to be a god! Instead, you are a useless antique!" and  "Your soul is a fetid, stagnant pool untouched by the tide!" etc. We can see she doesn't think highly of most ascendants she would probably refer to them as fools. Although, how would she know the Xer'sai was brought into the world by ascendants? To be honest I don't have real solid proof other than her god is ancient and would know I guess? Sorry for the weak end What do you Think of this theory?

I'd say that anything concerning voidlings is more likely to be connected with Icathia.

We don't know if the Void Cult had operated while Shurima was still a thing (but maybe yes and might be connected on what Xerath saw as corruption of the society) but surely it had developed a lot after it's fall filling the lack of powers ina ction and the despair of the survivors.

Who says that Azir isn't aware of them?

I think the Xer'sai were already a thing before Azirs rule,mainly because of this: http://na.leagueoflegends.com/en/creative-spotlight/reksai-scourge-desert On the eight page,you see a picture of a man next to a huge stone wall. If you look closely you can see that the stonewall depicts rek'sai(her face is clearly visible on the top right corner of the wall) and what appears to be a human warrior,who wields the same weapon as Renekton(the weapon is clearly visible on the bottom left corner,the arm of the human is also visible,but the face of the human can't be seen),which implies that the Xer'sai were already a threat when Nasus and Renekton were still human.

Of course it is possible that there were other failed ascension rituals in the past and that these let the Xer'sai in,but overall it looks like Icathia now lies within Shurima(or really close to it) since all the void-monster names seem to be shuriman names(except for Baron Nashor who was confirmed to be from the void)

I believe renekton fought rek'sai before the fall of shurima.
