See the above and imagine if Tahm managed to pull THAT off. Now THAT is just gruesome and cruel.

Then again, the above IS from Diablo 3.

Well they are 2 different kinds of hunger. Tahm doesn't just want to eat people,he wants them to suffer. He first helps you by offering you a transportation to whatever you desire,but then he'll come back,years later and eat all the stuff that is precious for you,this inflicts a much more personal horror,because the person who looses everything knows that everything and everyone they loved is gone and it is THEIR fault,because they had to make a deal with him.

Gohm is much more straight forward in that he seemingly just wants to eat humans to satisfy his own hunger(not sure if I'm missing anything here though,I'm not that familiar with the diablo lore).

In the end they are 2 different horrors relating to hunger,I'd say Gohms is much more straight forward while Tahms is more psychological and sadistic(it doesn't even look like tahm eats the gambler in his lore,so the person that makes a deal with him actually remains unharmed).

Ghom doesn't just want to eat humans: he wants to eat them after they've been stuffed with the meat of their comrades!

But yeah, you nailed it on the head. Ghom's a lot less eloquent than Tahm. Though in that lore event, I do believe Tahm ate the gambler's bride.

Yeah,but feeding the starving ones to the rest sounds more like he just needed a way to use the starving ones. After all the starving ones will most likely be rather thin and thus there'd be not much point in eating them,so he feeds them to the ones who are willing to eat. It is a very cruel thing,but it sounds like he does it out of efficiency,not out of sadism.

And yes Tahm ate the gamblers bride,he ate everything that was precious to the gambler,but it sounds like he left the gambler himself alive.

If it were just him wanting to fatten them up, he'd have fed them something else. Maybe flesh from incompetent (or dead) demons? I'd say it was out of sadism; the demons in Diablo tend to enjoy inflicting pain and suffering. And Ghom is the "Lord of Gluttony", after all.

And yes, Tahm likely left the gambler alive, though I imagine the gambler wished Tahm had killed him.

Well but if he fed them something else,then what should he have done with the ones who starve themselves to death?They loose their mass,so there is no point in eating them,but just letting them die is also pointless. This way he can use the starving ones for something useful and he actually makes starving yourself to death a lot less attractive for the ones who don't wanna starve.

Not saying though that Ghom isn't sadistic,if I remember correctly it was said that he slowly eats his victims while they are still alive,so he seems to be extremely sadistic anyway.

So in the end it is possible that he did it out of sadism,out of spite,or because it was practical,or because of all these reasons combined.

Because Tahm Kench's hunger isn't physical. He wants. He is the embodiment of greed and gluttony. Why does he wear two coats? Because one coat wasn't enough for him. Why does he leave survivors? Because he wants people to know about him. He is pure desire.

THE GAMBLING "Devoured" all of it, not The spirit NOW known as Tahm Kench.

The point is Tahm Kench (not the demon) was a gambler, he made a contrat with a demon, but the contrat was not that nice, he become an adict to gambling, losing all he had, and in the end, he lost his own body.

That is why Tahm Kench is the gambler, and the demon.
