Best thing they could've done for the game is retcon lore. It was getting way to far fetched to make reason for people to join the league.

I'll go hid in the black hole Aurelon Sols created when he last smashed a star for saying the retcon was a good idea.

Didn't they retcon the league out of existence? Or was it only the institute of war?

If they kept the institute of War, then the lore would be easy; All these guys are insanely powerful, but summoner's are WAY more powerful and can bind the champions to force them to fight.

Technically they could because they were practically gods with magic. Only the less expierenced ones could be overpowered by ones such as Fiddlesticks or Nocturne.

I never listed Nocturne or Fiddlesticks. The champions i listed are equal to semi-gods or forces of nature (Malphite, Anivia, Brand) Summoners are still humans

Well maybe humans can wield magic better than anyone in Runeterra? Also, i'm pretty sure they undergo some special training too.

I think in Brand's old lore (the extra story about him joining the league, forgot what it was called) he was tricked and then trapped by the summoners, who completely negated all his powers. I could imagine them doing something like that to Maokai or maybe Anivia, but I don't think anyone in the league could do anything about Syndra or Xerath.

In fact brand was simply beaten by Garen and Lux and then imprisoned.

It didn't even sound like brand was able to put up much of a fight....
